Over £90K new, pretty much ever box ticked plus some individual features.

87K miles, FBMWSH

£13500

£600 for DMS sillyness.

Essentially one of the best and fastest cars in the world for buttons.
Good point, same power as an old RS6 but cheaper. What sort of gains do you get on that engine from DMS?

Gains are comparatively small but its over book from the factory anyway.

The key thing is the limiter goes evil

We had an S600 traded in against a new one last year; I've got to say it was probably one of the scariest and most addictive cars i've ever driven. Driving along a dual carriage-way, I put my foot down at just over 80 and the traction light started flickering!! Mental amount of power and exceptional comfort - it also has one of the best sounding starter motors I've ever heard hehe Give one a go, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Nice car but surely this guy is having a Turkish at this price in this market for a 10 year old V12 smoker?

Personally I'd take this over a 600

Again an awesome car for the money, but the 600 is just a bit more 'sleeper' than the 55 and probably no slower. Also you will usually find the 600 has a nicer spec as they are bought as the ultimate executive car and every option box is ticked; most of the options on the 55 are standard on the 600; the 600 will probably be a bit cheaper to run as well (AMG brakes aren't cheap).

Mars - do it, you won't regret it.

I do love the irony of the fact the tax is going up a whole 200 quid knocking tens of thousands of pounds off £90,000 6 litre cars confused

Same here. Lets just keep it our secret, the general public seem to have made up their minds anyway so long may we continue and leave the bargains to us!

There is a massive difference between those two cars and the guy with the W140 series has been sniffing brake fluid at that price.

The V12 S600's are an absolute *&*& to work on, especially in the W140 series (the big boxy ones). An S500 will give about 8/10th's the performance for a lot less money and hassle (I ran a coupe version - by god, did that thing go!)

Would not touch a V12 W140 (have driven a few, considered buying one, talked out of it by a Mercedes mechanic!)

The E38 V12's are sleepers, especially in LWB form and can be picked up for half-nothing but budget £1500 for water/coolant related bits and pieces to be done ASAP as a preventative measure

Ooh, really? Such as? Was it expensive to fix?
Gearbox issues mainly. One day it was fine, the next it stopped working. From then on, no matter what remedial work was done, the gearbox was never the same. The gearbox was then changed (the whole lot - the car was off the road for three months) but the problems returned. VW eventually bought the car off me as, by their own admission, they couldn't sort the problem.

On the positive side, every gadget in the car - and there were lots - worked without fault or issue. The 5.0 V10 diesel engine was also fantastic, and it remains probably the best all-rounder that I've ever had.
