981 Boxster GTS…am I going mad?

Bear in mind…. In a couple of years, on the new car…. there will be no gearbox. No engine sound. No third pedal. Probably regen braking therefore no brake feel. No down shifting blips. No pops and burbles. And acceleration that will likely give you neck ache.
And when you go on a road trip you’ll be stopping every couple of hours for enforced expensive coffee breaks of up to an hour.

Ironically, with all that neck ache, a rest stop every few hours would be most welcome!
But you make a fair observation: the (new Porsche) drivetrain fundamentals are shortly to change, and we will have a whole new set of qualities to consider and judge.
Back to the OP, though - what will the electric Boxster do to the ‘flat ICE’ market I wonder?

I won't be judging them I won't be buying an EV sporstcar, but as I will still need 'transport' I will no doubt be forced into an EV of sorts eventually, but the sportscar thing will end there for me.Back to the OP, though - what will the electric Boxster do to the ‘flat ICE’ market I wonder?
If Porsche came to me today with a Boxster EV and offered me a straight swap with my worth half as much 981 I would respectfully decline.

And that for me is the reason why I wanted a manual car. An auto/PDK wasn't offered in the 981 Spyder so that was a good fit. I know how good the PDK box is, I want one, and one day I'll have one. I persuaded a friend of mine recently to get the NA 981 Cayman GTS over the FI 718 version, he chose PDK and it is glorious. But right now, with the direction of travel as it is in the auto industry, my 'old fashioned' car ain't going nowhere.

I mean Porsche will still probably do brilliantly out of the EV Caysters. There'll be enough new car for new car's sake types just buying the latest whatever. Us enthusiasts will stomp our feet and move onto older cars I suppose.

I would imagine the extra £10k goes towards heating the swimming pool and the running of the helicopter. I can't imagine it selling anytime soon now the weather has turned, will be interesting to see how many of these cars are still for sale come March. could be worth a screenshot of the current 18 cars listed and compare in 6 months time see how prices have faired.

£60,459 as it stands in base model. So around £70k with tasteful options. The one at JZM looks 'reasonable value' compared to some daft prices and IMHO the heated 18-way seats are better than buckets as these cars are ideally for jaunts to sunny EU places not a track. What doesnt add to me Is that a 991 2016 RS with 11k miles on CC’s doesn’t make the original sale price & yet people asking unchanged original purchase price for a 2015/16 Spyder.
Also a 2015 GT4 with more tech suspension etc can be had for 65/66k with miles and that was 4k more list.
The RS is a halo car & the Spyder 981 isn’t .
Don’t get me wrong I love em but I can’t help but think the relative value is all wrong.
