Last of the air / oil cooled, yes a great RS, but not the first or the last or the greatest of anything IMHO.

Was the 996 Gen1 GT3 a better car ? I should say so because it was the beginning of the whole of the 911 GT3 concept ... and look where that is now ? GT3 / GT3RS / GT3R / GT3RSR / GT3 Touring / 911R / Dakar ??

Is the '73 2.7RS more Iconic ?

As for rare Johnny Wishbone had a 2000 mile white 993RS comfort go through his books (I photographed it) ... and the RHD 993RS M003 Clubsport cars (similar to the 964RS N-GT) are much rarer ... 7 UK cars ?

Yes a lovely thing but a shame that it hasn't been used more ... and once sold will it be used more or should it be in a museum for reference as a mark in Porsche's great story ?

I'll have to hunt out some pics of the white car ...

But a great thread resurrection !

I wonder if they would have made more money if they had it serviced before sale

Still around Jimmy, I remember your car well from trackdays and the open.

Fairly quiet on here these days, factory black nomex cloth seems to be out of fashion, it's all about extended leather dashes and deviated stitching now? smile

A great example of a 993 RS, I was slightly surprised at the maintenance schedule, assuming it's destined to go into an air conditioned garage collection, it probably doesn't matter too much?

Service it to stand still! I serviced mine myself, safer than a opc.
My rhd was 60k a year old and my lhd beater was 34k with still 6 months factory warranty, sadly dont see many being used now for some bizarre reason.

Great nostalgia for these cars. I feel like the odd one out, I still have my CS. wink

Going back to that nice white low miles M003 kitted M002, didn't Chris Harris own it or one very similar before he bought his GT2?

Yes ... I just didn't want to show the C16 spec sticker with all its details.

I thought the wheels were as they came from Porsche which is why I photographed the weights ... but I didn't check the dating on the tyres. But they would only have been 12 years old ? I see the tax disc is 02 ... ???

I have bought a few low mileage collectables with the original tyres on them ... an 03 Aston with 03 tyres in '21 ??

Bought 993 RS Midnight Blue from HR Owen Porsche at Hatfield, for 68,995, daily drove it for 18 months, from Surrey to London Victoria 5 days a week. Sold it to AFN Guildford for £65,000, had about 18000 miles on it.Then bought 1 of 7 RSR that came to UK, Riviera Blue from Rivervale Porsche, for 71,000, couldn’t daily drive that and sold it 4 months later for 68,000. At the same time I knew the Black RSR as well, and while we were both owners, we heard one of the Red ones was written off, so from early on, it’s only been 1 of 6 to best of my knowledge. One thing I never understand is the UK cars were called RSR, not Clubsport, and my memory is fussier now, but pretty sure it had RS R badging on rear lid?? Forward to 2019 and I was in Maxted Page looking at PTS Maritime Blue 991.2 GT3 Manual, supposedly OPC Leicester got a PTS through. While I was there my old 993 RS in midnight blue was there by chance, up at 235,000. Great to sit in it again and also to see my name and old address in the book blew the salesman’s mind! Eventually sold to Far East, a lot of the 49 have gone that way. Good memories.

maura, 2 of the 7 UK Rhd CS met an early end. I have photos somewhere of the red and purple ones in a sorry state.

My understanding is that the UK 993 Clubsport cars came with "Carrera RS" on the rear lid as per all 993 RS/CS, I have seen RSR badging over the years, I assumed this was done after sale?

Thoughts on the the CS becoming known in the UK as the RSR maybe because the 968 Clubsport was the cheapest 968 which sold for around half the price of the 993.
Or more likely, because It also has the same larger spoiler ktt as the RSR, hence the distinction.
The CS/RSR bodykit was also a factory option available on the regular m002 993RS at a cost of around £6k

The 993 RSR was a seperate variant, around 50 odd built race car based on the narrow bodied 993 with GT2 style bolt on arches and a more powerul version of the 3.8 engine.

Here’s the only photo I have on my phone of my old 993. This was 2010 after I’d had it, ahem, fixed and retired it from racing. The Caterham then got raced. Then kids. Then old… 😁
