Ive been meaning to start this thread for ages.

We have had this Testarossa for sale at Amari Super Cars for a while, and while it was quite a clean example, it is getting on for 23 years old and we felt it could do with a freshen up.

A few before pics:

So on the ramp it went, off came the wheels and the brakes / suspension was inspected. Looked to be in good working order, but can look a lot better. We want these cars to look good top to bottom.

Hmm a little bit of corrosion under there:

And it seems to be leaking oil.... from the cam covers we found out......

Which means this is going to have to come out....

Wheels had couple of small marks and had gone a bit dull:

Few cracks on front splitter:

And whoever painted it last time was very lazy, they painted a radiator!

Still such a fantastic shape:

Drained the oil, found this in there. Looks like whoever last changed the oil used too much sealant on the sump and it had been sucked into the oil....

Remember those dirty, corroded, nasty looking suspension components?

Well, they were sandblasted, treated and painted:

Great thread but isn't that all the stuff that should have been rectified before you tried to sell it for top dollar ?

Did you just buy it, polish it and pop a for sale sticker on it ?
It is stuff that would have been done before sale anyway, just never found a time to do it.

Now we have the time, so I thought others would like to see the process.

Great thread. Bookmarked.

Where is the battery located. Infront of the front wheel?

I hope you don't get crunchy bearings.
Yes, battery is located in front of the passenger side front wheel.

Clutch coming out to be inspected:

Some of the metal frame at the front tidied up and painted:

Part of this X shape was corroded, so it was cut out for a new piece to be put in:

The clutch was definitely past its best:

Luckily the clutches for these are quite easily available and not scarily expensive, like a Countach clutch!

New tyres, absolutely. As you said, they are pretty old!

I think a new nut will be going on that bit you mentioned after the brakes get rebuilt.

Thanks for the comments.

This car looks similar to my testarossa that i bought in 2004.
The registration number was H599MPE. Is it the same car ?
I can give you some history if so, all positive.
Indeed it is!

Always interesting to find out the history of these cars.

Im sorry but I can't carry on this thread, or the Countach thread, as apparently a few people have complained about them to the moderators and I have been asked to stop.

I will stick a link up to another forum shortly where you can follow the progress if you like.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Like I said, I will carry the threads on over on L4P, or I could email people some photos if they liked?
