All this talk of bargains started me looking and I see some of the cheapest cars even from main dealer are not McLaren Qualified status

Does anyone have any comment as to how critical this is please ?

In addition to more info on Qualified status have McLaren now announced extended warranty options for owners once the factory period expires?

So if non Mclaren Qualified cars can still get extended warranties, why pay extra for the Mclaren Qualified cars?

Qualified means you get a buying experience like a 'new' buyer with a factory tour at MTC, the car is fully upgraded where available, you get better rates on MSO extras if you are that way inclined, two year roadside assistance, and although I couldn't tell you how it compares to a non-qualified car, I believe they do extended checking of it versus otherwise.

Have to say they are becoming tempting at the price. I cancelled my early order after a shocking buying experience but they seem to have improved on that score

I am starting to feel the same - after the GT3 I had on order started having fire risk I think a bit of McLaren engineering is not so bad.

What are the must haves and the stay away froms?

XPEL on the car (especially the front and side intake areas) after buying it as the paint is very soft.

Would probably advise getting a car with the 2 year used car warranty or a newish car as right now the warranty extension cost is under discussion and I'm not really sure I am very impressed by some of the numbers being bandied around. The later cars probably have better build quality I would say as well.

So 2012 onwards or 2013 re build quality. Any hardware differences between the years?

Personally I haven't noticed a lot of build quality differences but inevitably as production goes on the cars tend to get better. Another owner has mentioned from speaking to the factory (unsure if true admittedly and I'm quite doubtful myself) the first couple of hundred (outside of the first few very problematic ones) were pretty good then it slipped back a bit until the 1500ish+VIN mark. He's a fairly early car owner though so might just be a bit biased.

Front lift option apart no hardware differences.

Mine is around #1300 and it's brilliant, I'm 1,500 miles in and no complaints from a build point of view - literally nothing dramatic has happened other than a poor performing Iris system but we all know about that anyway and it needs to be upgraded to the Android one asap.

At the price I paid, and the prices you can buy these cars for, it's one heck of a car for the money. Every time I'm blown away and loving it.

Will be interesting to hear how that compares.
Dealers keep telling me that the release of the 650 has firmed up 12c prices - how does that work???

Here's my take on it.

650S comes out, raises the price point, grows brand awareness and they implement a cleverer used car structure that means the 650S holds more value - doing this by not oversupplying in the same way, and releasing a car that's fantastic from the get-go. None of the failures and troubles early 12C adopters went through.

As a result if customers want a 12C, due to being interested in the brand having not been before, the price is going to pull up; there aren't many 12Cs and they look incredibly cheap bargains compared to the newer cars, even more so than before.

Additionally, when "P13" launches at Geneva next year, your 500hp car is £125k (plus options), but a 2yr old 625hp car can't go much below that... can it?

Who knows!

Dealers will tell you anything, they're just trying to talk the prices up.

Also P13 is 450 bhp I believe and not 500, although I'll be happy to be proved wrong

I think it is just dealers trying to hard sell and then add to that a bit of sunshine and prices look firm - if this was September the prices would look alot worse.....
