All day long my friend! So much better looking than the 92 Lola IMHO. Is it a DFV or Judd? Who was the original driver?
Andygo has a 3.0 turbo Reliant Robin listed in his PH garage, hence..........

ha ha nice, sorry about that and see you were taking the piss. I thought the Robin was awesome machinery? ha

Engine is a Mugen-Honda V8 but shagged... it will cost about 12k to repair at some point, i was going to use nicholson mclaren to do the work.

Regards car history i'll dig some info up, i was going to race the car in Ireland and replace the engine with a Holden, we'll see.

Not taking the piss but just cant believe such a thing exists, Essex V6 with Janspeed turbo(I guess)=9.8 metric tonnes+Reliant with a single wheel at the front to support turbo anchor= 24kg ish?
There is an 88d on ebay(or maybe PH) for £8k as a rolling chassis Ive been having big time fantasies about. Back in 93/94ish there was talk of a class to replace Brit F2/F3000 using TVR AJPwhatsit engines, at least one was built and ran, thats the way my bath time fantasy was headed, to keep the costs explainable to the present Miss/Mrs Sprint Rich.
All bath time plans though, got to get to the bottom of the fearsome 2008 Gillard Rotax before I start re-engineering 20 year old F3000 cars on the coffee table. We'll see!!

Are the 70mph go karts rear wheel braking? Went to Buckmore Park and everybody span out a few times because they braked in the corner..

Yes they were.

Evening went well, postponed 2 weeks due to bad weather. Karts are new single engined ones....but .....have to say they weren't as good as the old ones.

Our team had one Kart blow up, the 2nd had one of the rear wheels come loose and the third the seat came loose (mid lap), one of the other cars also blew up and another dropped oil on the braking point of the last 180 degree corner!! Also the performance difference between these karts (from each other) was noticeable compared to the last ones.

Still a good night though.

You can brake in a corner, just takes a bit of practice

Sliding is also a good way to scrub of a bit of speed while keeping the throttle planted.
Why would you be accelerating when trying to scrub off speed!?

Cotty said:
Lots of throttle in the wet and drive though it.
Where did you get this from!? Controlled smooth throttle in the wet is what is needed, not a heavy right foot.

Club100 karts would hit about 75mph at Clay Pigeon.
I can promise you they won't.

Cotty said:
The worst place to be in a wet race is the outside of a corner. If the kart wants to drift wide you have no where to go, kerbs, grass, tyre wall game over. If you hit the apex and the kart pushes wide you have the rest of the width of track to drift/slide and recover.
The outside of the corner is not always the worst place to be, sometimes it can provide superior grip levels for example the hairpin at clay pigeon.

Boot full of throttle will overcome the understeer
No it won't it will simply give you even more understeer.

Hey im just saying what works work for me and considering I have a couple of Club100 championship trophies I can't be doing too bad. Yes some of my techniques are unconventional but like I say they work for me.

I'm going to assume you mean race trophies not championship and good on you, but believe me when I say these things will work against you not for you.

No I ment championship trophies, second in my Rookie championship, third in my intermediate championship and left as a Premier driver (top 5 teams/drivers have to move up to the next level).

I would not usually do this but I have just got back from the monthly Dirty Dicks meet piss up and im feeling feisty

Im pretty handy in a kart, although I have not been in a kart for 6 years, ill step up to the plate should you so wish.

That's quite an old picture those karts were replaced years ago. As it happens the kart following (No 14) is my son Stuart.

Sorry assumed you meant at the top level not to take away from the trophies you have won, you obviously have some potential in a kart however avoiding the above mentioned would speed you up furthur.

Look i've done 24th to 2nd in 8 laps in rotax 125 but this isnt what its about.
I was merely trying to point out to you ealier that the karting advice you were giving to people was not very accurate on a thread where people were looking for advice on racing a kart.

I'm no way professional, but a the usual work type outings, I normally end up at least in the top 2. For this sort of session, the tips below will work. If you are up against a bunch of people that really know what they are doing, the overtaking tip probably won't work!

Look to carry speed where you can, keep it smooth and get into a rhythm.

When overtaking, be a tiny bit patient. Within any given few corners, with a bit of pressure (e.g. just make sure you are getting into their peripheral vision occasionally), or sometimes not even with any pressure, people will do probably something dumb and you're through.

A crash will lose you a lot of time.

It is accurate in that it works for me and could work for other people. Hense if someone asks for my advise I will give it, what they do with that advice is up to them. If you want to dismiss it out of hand thats fine.

How can "I tried X and Y happened" be inaccurate advice, unless you're accusing Cotty (and I) of lying? Whether or not you believe it doesn't change the fact that it happened as described.
