If you're getting close to 300 miles out of a full battery that's very good. A 992 Turbo does indeed use more fuel than a Fiesta but it can be filled from the same pump which there are a lot more of than fast chargers...so it is much less of an issue.
250 is more realistic, in warm conditions. It might be possible to get more range by driving extremely conservatively, but there’s no fun in that!

I’ve had a Taycan Cross Turismo and Sport Turismo. In 18,000 miles between both cars, the best range ever was 245 miles in the height of summer and worst 190 in deep winter, both without spirited driving. Not enough for me and one of the main reasons I sold them both.

Just out of interest did you have 20 or 21 inch wheels ?

Fair enough - I assume you do lots of 200+ mile journeys?

Not lots but doing say 110 miles in the morning and returning home 110 miles in the evening became a pain as I was always concerned about range, charging, traffic etc.

I had no other issues with both cars. I’ve been in a Cayenne Petrol for 10 months and 500 miles range seems like a revelation.

I’ll be trying the facelift E-Hybrid next……

Let me just check I have this correct. So a Taycan battery lasts 3-5 years and then its £55K to replace.

https://www.porscheofgreenville.com/2021-porsche-t...

How is that viable?

Surely the bit where the articles is talking about an alternator and starter motor is the hint that this this bot generated tosh on their site taken from an ice vehicle with the word Taycan inserted.

Good point! odd though as that seems to be an official Porsche affiliate.

I've got the 21-inch RS wheels. They look great but are totally impractical for aero and range. But then again, have you seen the aero 19" wheels on the 4S.

Put it this way, you'd put up with the lower range any day.

Battery warranty is 8yrs and 100k miles. There's no way they'd do that if they expected the battery to choke after 3-5yrs.

even 8years/100K miles seems short considering the new battery is £40K.

How much warranty do you get on a 600bhp/800nm ICE power plant? And how much are they to replace new?

I get that some are inclined to compare batteries with petrol/petrol tanks, but I think it's "fairer"/more sensible to compare the drive train at large.

Pretty sure I saw a paper recently that noted Tesla batteries are holding up better than expected over time. But generally we don't really know. If the paper I read pans out then it shouldn't be a massive worry. I also suspect that the capability to repair packs will become more prevalent, and more applicable after warranty expiry.

We'll see, I guess. Meanwhile am happy to be a not so early adopter.

I can see how that would be an issue on a regular basis, particularly when the weather gets colder.

21s on both cars. 20s will marginally improve range but only if you drive very delicately which to me seems like a strange thing to aim for in a performance car.

I think the 20's v 21's make quite a big difference in reality, my 2020 turbo (now on 34k) has always been driven as intended and consistanly gets 260+ with aircon in the summer weith AC on and 220+ in winter with AC on.

On 21's most people seem to have seen 220 in winter on 21's, well I will find out over the next year as I pick up my new Turbo 'S" ST on 21's this saturday !!....... fortunately if it goes wrong I have a set of Turbo 2's in the garage !!

I run 21 inch on my CT in the summer and 20 inch winters. c240-255 in summer and 210 in the winter. Don’t know what difference winter compounds make to efficiency?

Have you ever run the 21’s in winter ? And if so what was the range like ?

Thanks

US Audi e-tron GTs are dropping 40% in a year driven a lot by manufacturer buy backs selling for 50% off. Most of these would have sold for $15-30k over list.

Could the Audi be the real VW EV bargain? I would not touch one as Audi have been a bunch of sts with my wife's car which we nearly returned and probably should have done.
