Announced this morning:
https://www.porsche.com/uk/models/taycan/taycan-mo...

The GTS sits between the 4S and Turbo model in the range and the Sport Turismo gives the practically of the Cross Trim bodyshell, but with lower suspension and a more dynamic set-up. Plus none of the plastic 'off road' body additions.

I've placed an order with my dealer this morning - expected Q2 2022 delivery.

I've been waiting for this announcement for ages. Really impressed with the 4S I drove but just felt it could just do with a bit more power. GTS is nearer the 4S in power terms than the Turbo, I was hoping it would be bang in the middle. Slightly disappointed but at least it's here now. Man maths time.....
For me the power was somewhat irrelevant - the 4S was likely to be more than adequate in 95%+ of scenarios anyway. Having said that, I didn’t go too crazy on the short test drive I had, to really see what the 4S could do. I also have to remind myself of the kerb weight of this car to put the bhp into context. I guess more power is always better!

I couldn’t justify the cost of the Turbo for a daily driver, didn’t like the high stance of the Cross Turismo or the body mouldings, so the Sport version in GTS packaging ticks all the boxes.

The new dimmable roof is something that should have been available from day 1 and I think will be very popular, subject to price!

I imagine the new model doesn't have any waiting list as it has just been announced , hence the shorter lead time than the CT
I've had a letter of intent for some time and my OPC indicated that I was first on their list for this car, so I'm expecting Q2 2022, based on the timescales announced by Porsche yesterday.

Obviously nothing is confirmed at this stage.

Is there an option to delete the fancy roof? I'd much rather save the money thanks and spend it elsewhere.
It’s just an option you can choose not to specify.

It’s not clear at this stage whether the standard Panoramic roof will still be available or whether the only option will be the ‘Panoramic roof with variable light control’, at presumably a (much?) higher cost than the basic roof.

It's a Porsche...they rape us at every given opportunity biggrin Will offer both options the new one probably being £500 more!
I'd be amazed if it is only £500 more than the basic panoramic roof!

My Porsche ID has been updated with a VIN number, suggesting my car has now gone into production…

Bloody Hell, that’s been a long wait; I admire your perseverance. I remember ordering one on the first day being released as well, having already had an order in for a CT, with the salesman guessing I’d get the GTS allocation first! In the end I got my CT allocation a couple of weeks later and binned the GTS. Anyway, sure it will have been worth the wait and not too much longer to go……..
In fairness, I didn’t want it much sooner as my new garage with solar panels for electric charging is still not completed (although will be finished before the end of the month)!

My car has now been produced and is at Emdem, waiting for a ferry to bring it to these shores. Unfortunately it appears there are quite a few cars already there, so at this stage not clear exactly how long it will take.

Mines there too, I was told over 500 cars there at the moment.
That doesn’t sound too bad? The ferries take c. 5000 cars and 3 trips a week, albeit capacity is shared with other manufacturers?

Expect maybe another three weeks. My car went to Emden late March. The compound was full and it was transported to a VW compound in Creutzwald, France, just south of the Luxembourg border. Stayed there for two weeks and was then transported back to Emden. Went on the ferry 13th April, arrived in Sheerness the following day, but then another 10 days before arriving at the dealership.

Picked up the car 28th April. It's brilliant. Worth the wait.
Glad to hear it - thanks for the information!

Looks like another stop-sale on Taycans, reason currently unknown. I was due to collect my car yesterday but the handover was cancelled.

The dealership have kindly lent me a Taycan Turbo S in the meantime.

Sorry to hear that.

I think I'm more and more regarding mine a bullet dodged.
Well for now I’m enjoying the loan car and learning about the technology.

The Taycan is a massively impressive car and (despite its weight) has been set up to perform like a Porsche. I have found charging extremely straightforward (using both AC and DC infrastructure) and usability is great.

As a daily driver for both short and long trips, it will meet my requirements. The acceleration is fairly addictive.

However, despite the ultimate pace, it’s not the sort of car you take out for a Sunday morning drive for the sake of it. However I knew that and that’s not why I bought it.

It does mean that I’ll definitely be looking for a GT3 for the garage in due course.

Congratulations… hope it’s living up to your expectations? Looks beautiful…..
On last day of a week touring round North Yorkshire in my 4SCT adding 500 miles and found the charging to be a joy. Been a huge influx of new superfast chargers in this area over the last few months and most of them seem deserted. I know it doesn’t always work like this but it’s been effortless and stress free.
I have been using the dealers Taycan Turbo S for the last few weeks, so already have some experience of using chargers when making longer trips away from home and both Gridserve and Ionity chargers have been faultless for me.
