981 Cayman 2.7 - A goal achieved

Thanks for the comments.
Gearing is certainly the biggest issue with the car, I know you can get shorter gear sets for them but the costs are pretty large. Most fast a/b roads can be done all in 2nd which is nuts!
I'm not expecting running costs to be that bad from my previous car. I had an F54 Clubman Cooper S which had the optional 19" wheels. Weirdly the Cayman's 20"s arent that much more expensive and servicing at a local Porsche specialist is roughly the same cost as it was for the Mini. Combined with the only slightly larger tax and insurance costs it wasn't really a stretch.
As for the black, I hate black cars. Keeping them clean is a nightmare. This is my 3rd however

Similar title to my post - I bought myself a 981 cayman after working hard over lockdown and saving up whilst everyone else stayed at home.
Lovely car OP. Mine doesn’t have chrono or PSE - your video is making me wish it did! I was impatient though after looking for quite a while - struggled to find one with the 20s let alone anything else.

Posted a small update on my site about the car. - https://www.theoctaneaddict.com/post/porsche-981-c...
I've covered over a 1000 miles now and i've really gotten to know the car, it was perfect for a recent trip down to Cornwall and it continues to excite when you get a clear road to have a crack at.
I have washed it since this picture, although a bank holiday drive out with some friends has resulted in it looking about the same
I'm booked for another sprint day down at Curborough this weekend which should be good fun. Looking forward to throwing the car around and hopefully seeing if i can get it to slide, either way i'll have some video of it!

Update time!
I had a very fun day out at Curborough on Saturday, it's a great place to learn car control and get to know the limits of both yourself and what you're driving.
I found that using Sport Plus is still a little intrusive when you're trying to get the car moving around so after a couple of runs I decided to turn everything off and explore the limits of the Cayman.
The car is extremely well balanced and you can really play around with both trail braking and trailing throttle, over steer is controllable but thanks to the long gearing it does require commitment to get some proper slides. Brakes are brilliant and the feel they give off really helps you to move the weight around, the steering despite being an electric rack seems to come alive on track and is much more communicative than on road pottering around.
I spent most of the day sideways and overall dicking around but towards the end of the day I focused on some tidy runs.
Video below of onboard footage:
5:30 has a nice big slide, as does 12:30 from another angle.
21:15 is a nice clean run.
23:05 features a huge moment thanks to mud on the track
Overall a brilliant day and i'm left hugely impressed with how good the car is. I fancy a track evening at Donington in the near future, i suspect i'd have to keep the exhuast closed as with PSE on it blew 103.5db

Make sidewalls great again!
After running with the 20s for the last few months I’ve noticed that there is an initial harshness to the ride. Pot holes, manhole covers and general crappy roads are the order of service around my way and the super low profile tyres just weren’t cutting it.
I’d been thinking about downsizing for a while and have been watching used wheel and tyres sets on eBay waiting for the right set to appear.
I found a brand new set locally and secured them for a bargain price. The wheels are from a 718 so the TPMS doesn’t work with the 981, but more importantly they are wearing the correct N spec P Zeros.
Got them fitted to the car over the weekend and it has completely transformed the car. The primary harshness has gone, road noise is reduced and in my opinion it looks so much better.
Took a few pictures of the car from a run out yesterday, I can highly recommend the roads around High Force.

Another little update!
We've just returned from a 1200 mile road trip around Ireland, for those who have never been I highly recommend it. Stunning scenery, gorgeous roads, friendly people and great food.
The Cayman was perfect for the trip as it isn't too wide, swallows a ridiculous amount of luggage and was a blast on their roads.
If you've ever over there a visit to Molls Gap is worth it just for the roads.
Here's a random dump of images from the trip.
Next up is a well earned bath and then a track evening at Donington on the 14th

The new wheels look great Maybe some small spacers to bring them outwards a touch?
My 911 was black on black with red calipers and I changed to weiss gold some years ago, which i've been very happy with. But for me, gold wheels are a bit motorsporty and need lowered suspension to pull the look off (e.g. GT4 vs standard).
Enjoy Donington. I was there last week in my car and there was also a black GT4 with weiss wheels (and at least 3 other caymans)!
