Had a very successful track evening at Donington last night, car felt great and it was nice to explore more of its on the limit handling. On a faster circuit the car is incredibly well balanced and feels just right. It loves trail braking and has mountains of grip available meaning you can really push on. After a 10 or so laps the brake pedal began to go a little long but other than that i have no complaints.

Footage of my last session can be found below. around 17 minutes in is my best lap.

Time for a very long overdue update!

In typical Porsche fashion the car has truly got under my skin and i'm still enjoying even the most mundane of drives, of which there have been lots.

One grumble is that when cold this car hates being driven, its noisy, stutters and the front tires skip across the surface when maneuvering. But after a good 30 mins or so of getting some heat into everything it really opens up and continues to be a brilliant car.

In order to give the car some proper exercise I booked onto one final day at Curborough with a group of friends. The forecast was bleak with temps around -2 for most of the day, when I got up to leave it was -5 around my way and the doors and windows were fully frozen laugh

I've now taken to pouring tepid water onto the windows/doors before attempting to open them, forcing them open results in the window dropping mechanism having a fit and you then not being able to shut the door properly.

Anyway back to the track, it was very slippy for the first part of the day which gave me more chance to explore how the car moves around in low grip conditions. Its quite controllable, but being mid engined if you over rotate the rear you will spin, which I did, rather spectacularly.

Thankfully no damage to the car and I carried on with the day, of course the camera was rolling to capture the talent well running dry. Skip to 4:06 to see that one.

The rest of the day was great fun with the car behaving and the track starting to grip up. I had chance to jump in and passenger in a 992 GT3 that was there and wow, what a car. The grip that car can pull from a surface is brutal and PCCBs are insanity, it made my car feel utterly useless and very slow!

A few images from the day:

Next for the car is a service and MOT in the new year and depending on how much they cost I think I might be refurbishing the 20s, if I can decide on a color that is.

Forgot to update this as usual laugh

Since the last update the car has hit over 70k miles and is still running great. Recently its had a major service plus aux belt and gearbox oil flush, a new set of rear tyres for the 20s and has flown through an MOT.

As a reward I've fitted a GT4 shifter which feels great thanks to it shortening the lever height by 20mm and using some tighter bushes.

A couple of weeks back I had some track time booked at curborough where I decided to have fun experimenting with the wet conditions hehe

I think it might be time for a change however, the Cayman is fantastic and a car that really can do it all, but there are so many other experiences out there. My current brainworm wants a big GT car for daily duties and an Elise for trackdays and sun out fun.

With my wedding coming up imminently I wont be making any rash decisions, but after then I think it'll be on the market.
