We really enjoyed Festival Italia, lots of races and some lovely cars on display and we even got to do a lap of the track at the end!

Speaking on the track, there was a free grid walk ahead of the Ferrari cup

I really recommend the event, it was a shame that I forgot my sd card so had to become a human gimbal to try and salvage some content.

This week I need to change the rocker cover gasket and get a new back box fitted as the current one has developed a range of speed holes. Then we’re off to shedfest!

I bought another Punto! Full story is on YouTube, but looking forward to transferring some choice bits to my HGT.

Congrats on the new car OP! Are those Speedline Turinis on the new one? Looks like it might have the 'Abarth' bodykit also?

Deffo the abarth body kit, it has the steering wheel as well.

Speed line corsa are the wheels I think?

Spent today removing it and putting it on the HGT:

Swapped in the replacement rear lights:

And swapped over the tyres so my shiny speed lines have proper rubber on them:

Still to do:

Swap over the steering wheels
Fit the old side skirts to parts punto
Fit the old wheels to parts punto

had one of these in 2001.

I had been running a silver phase 1 Punto GT in 2000, loved that ting, ran it for a year, dump valve and a magnex centre exit exhaust and in 2000 life was complete, had a Pioneer dolphin Head unit. Used to drive it up into central London on the odd Saturday as i worked in a bank and had to do Saturday mornings, used to sound awesome echoing off the walls early in the morning. It was very quick. during that 12 to 18 months I owned it I kicked its head in constantly. towards the end of my tenure and after some rather stupid near misses the turbo was on its last legs I decided it was time to settle down. i was driving like a knob and i wanted something newer.

So oddly i talked myself into buying a 6 month old mk2 Black ( solid black too no metallic on that shape) 1.2 sporting. it looked the tits , was impossible to clean and after 3 months of putting up with the poor performance the lie finished, I had major buyer remorse...….. the guy I worked with was previously a fiat dealer salesman and said he'll speak to his old boss. next day he says he's got a Yellow HGT and because the HGT was not insurable for a lot of people back then the dealer was keen to have my sporting in place of the HGT. So I ended up doing a straight swap with FIAT for a 1yr older HGT ( still only 18 months old).

Loved that car, it was quick, it was very quick for the time, it was only in 2003 that my mate bought an EP3 did it start to feel slow as the game moved on. I ran it for 2yrs until I took a company car at work and had to sell it on.

It was a rare car back then, but weirdly my mates dad who lived round the corner had exactly the same sec yellow HGT. Broom Yellow was the name if I remember rightly

incidentally this was my first car with standard sat nav, meant the pioneer dolphin never got used again.

When I bought mine (brand new, 23 years ago!!) I looked at the Abarth kit and actually preferred the standard sills, and steering wheel.

Would love another one now although I have 2 other projects to deal with first and I think a divorce would blow a hole in a car restoration budget frown

Ask forgiveness, not permission hehe it’s how I sorted parts punto.

I’m editing the bodywork swap video today, should be out tonight or tomorrow afternoon at the latest.

The punto is really starting to come together. The steering wheel and other bits will be moved across next week. Then I’m in a waiting game for the superprint manifold to arrive and then I can get the exhaust system made up and fitted.

What brakes are you getting?

I think I put Tarox grooved discs on mine at replacement time.

Long overdue update! I've been very busy with the Punto!

I went with MTEC119 C-Hook Brake Discs, they seem pretty decent and certainly a lot better than the rusty ones that were on there originally!

So since October I've:

Taken the Punto to the Black Mountain Pass in Wales

Replaced the Thermostat, Coolant sensor & flushed the coolant

Got the super sprint manifold and ulter sport back boxfitted

Took the car to it's first rolling road

Broke down in a super market carpark
Replaced the coil packs

Fitted sound proofing cause the exhaust was too loud

Fitted a middle silencer as the exhaust was still too loud
Fitted a short shift kit and cleaned the gear linkage

I want to get the clutch replaced, alongside the gearlinkage and also tidy up the engine bay ahead of its first show of the year, Rustival!

Good work! How did the rolling road go? Did the manifold make much difference?
So while the Cryenne is out of action has this been used for daily duties?
