Brilliant videos - thanks for posting them Dave. thumbup
You're welcome, pleased you enjoyed them. I've watched the clip of chasing that GT40 a few times now, such a gorgeous sounding car.

Thank you, I do feel pretty calm, it's just so much fun. The only slight nerves were when following the GT40 closely, the thought of ramming it in the back doesn't bear thinking about eek
Despite the final drive now being as short as will fit in the diff casing, the ratios are still fairly long. That lack of whipping up and down the 'box makes it look a little slower than it is, that and how wide the track is.

It's a C6 btw, but I'm sure you knew that and it was a slip of the keys. smile
I’ve got the same issues with the gearbox in my Carlton - wide spaced gears, a long throw and a stupidly long 6th but then it did get robbed from a GM parts bin

Fat Fingers phone keypad - sorry - I did know it was a C6

Feeling proud that Goodwood picked up my GT40 chase video. They've added some kind words too.

Deserved praise, a dab hand and heavy right foot is always an entertaining combo. It is great to see how much life this car still has given it's high mileage. Is there a refresh/upgrade plan for the future?

Thank you. No maintenance planned, other than another oil and filter change in a couple of months.

It's running well and with things like the rocker bearings, lifters, belts, tensioners, oil and water pumps, valve stem seals and springs, various seals and more all having been replaced in recent years, it should be ok? I know that compression will surely start to go on a cylinder at some stage and wear in bottom end bearings must have occurred with these miles and useage, but I think I'll see how long it can last. smile

I've been working hard for the last 6 months, planning the next Clive The Corvette trip. This one is the longest yet and I'm going big, paying for a videographer (Marc) and social media (Joe) guy to cover half of the trip, with Felix alongside me for the whole duration. The trip takes place at the end of June, anyone want to guess where I'm heading?

As part of the reveal I'll post a video this week, looking back on the last 6+ years of ownership highlights.

A local Corvette meet:

I've been busy with maintenance including a service with Liqui Moly 5w30 Molygen, which is weird stuff, being bright green.

I've read of the eccentrics slipping when on sticky tyres on track, but had yet to experience it. It looks like Silverstone made two of them slip. Fortunately I'd marked them, so should be able to return them without needing a geo set up.

For the last few months I've been having a rattle from the front right, noticeable at slow speeds on broken tarmac only. I'd assumed it was arb drop links, but I've found a circlip has bored its way into an alloy washer, that was part of the Borg upper wishbone delrin kit. I'm waiting on a reply from Borg, as I believe this is quite unusual.

In case of a breakdown, I fitted one of Vorshlag's front rigid towing points. https://vorshlag-store.com/collections/c5-c6-body-...
The US C6's don't have any kind of towing point, to date I've made do with a nylon towing strap, bolted to the front crash bar. However, as I found when being pulled out the Sahara sand at an angle, it can cut the bodywork. It will cause me an issue at MSUK competition events, but will cross that bridge...

During previous effort to control oil and water temps.on track, by angling my Improved Racing oil cooler, I had cut up my radiator shroud and it was looking a mess. These have been unavailable for months, but I tracked down a new one, it looks much better (photo to follow later).

The Speed Engineering headers and X pipe sound glorious, but the lack of cats was becoming a concern for me, especially with an MOT coming up. I'd bought a set of LS7 shorty headers, cats and H pipe and had two 3" to 2.5" reducers made up to join the NPP back boxes. The end result is heavier, quieter (boo), but legal and is tidier in appearance. If anyone has a set of C6 Z06 bi-mode back boxes for sale please let me know.
Cameo appearance from PHer Felix, over for the day to help. smile

Other than that, I once again had the pleasure of driving a friends Lexus RCF at Castle Combe circuit recently.

So, any guesses where in the world 'Clive' is heading to this summer? ears

The destination for the next adventure is revealed in this highlights video. It's an attempt to cram more than 6 years of ownership into a 12 minute video, hope you enjoy it:

As you can tell, I'm not a natural when it comes to recording a voiceover and yet chat to me in the street and I can rabbit for hours without hesitation!
Thanks, Dave

I can't believe it's 6 years since you bought Clive (and left z4forum), but I really enjoyed that video Dave. thumbup

Already looking forward to reading about your Arctic trip!

It does feel like a long time ago now. I do have fond memories of the Z4M, it was probably the best car I've owned, helped by being very tidy (no pun intended). I don't miss the RFL though. Thanks for always chipping in with comments, it's appreciated. smile

I'm into my fifth year with my Z4M Coupe so I know what you mean about the Road Tax. But if you want to play you've got to pay!

So I do because it's by far the best car I've ever had too.

Thank you, the risk is high with such a high mileage car, but satisfaction and scenery are the possible reward.

The sound will sadly be a little muted for this trip, with the Z06 manifold and mid-pipe being a lot quieter than the long tube headers. frown
