It went well! Made 132 bhp, which is decent for the age of car I think.

Yes the Punto has been used pretty much daily since December and has held up pretty well, it defintely doesn't like the cold weather though, loves to throw up random errors whenever the weather drops below 5 degrees.

It's Italian. I think that's a case of "they all do that"

Yeah I think so hehe I want to treat it to some new battery terminals etc to help those electrons get where they need to go.

Mucked around with the gear linkages again today, I hadn't looked at the left/right linkage earlier in the week. As soon as the rain stopped I removed the intake, battery& tray to get access, one 17mm bolt later and it was out:

TBH it looked in good shape, no corrosion that I could see, but I sandeded down & cleaned it up, alongside the tube/barrell it sits in. The gear stick now self centers much better, but still there is some vagueness to it. At this point I think its worth getting the linkages replaced and see what that does, I'm awaiting a quote from Autoalfa on a new clutch & flywheel, so will get them to do it at the same time.

Need to tick off some more jobs today ahead of the road trip to Rustival next Saturday.

The most important is sorting the coolant leak from the upper radiator hose. I’ve bought a new rad as the current is looking a bit past its best.

So the plan today:

Remove bumper
Remove radiator
Replace radiator
Fit new clips
Fit new expansion tank & cap
Fill coolant
Oil & filter change

Then if I get time, clean & spray paint the strut brace and engine cover.

Success! And didn’t need to change the radiator after all, I’ll keep the replacement just in case though. The Oubto has fresh oil, filter & coolant and I also had the time to jazz up the engine bay.

So the car is pretty much ready for Rustival, one down side is that I smashed my camera frown

Found a new old stock Abarth gear knob & gaiter, goes well with the steering wheel. Plus the old one was manky:

Have been watching the Youtube videos, hadn't realised there was a companion thread here...

Punto looks a fun car and certainly a nice change from the usual Fiesta/Clio as a small hot hatch.

Thanks for watching! It’s sadly proper rare these days, which makes some parts hard to get. But it’s nice to have something different.

Taking advantage of the weather to do some washing line spray painting. The strutbrace was proper manky, it still is but now it’s black:

All done! Engine bay is looking a lot fancier compared to a few weeks ago.

I've been clearing out my parents shed and discovered what I'm fairly sure are 2 sets of front pads for my old Punto HGT.
I'm sure one set is standard - I think they're in a Fiat branded box - and the other set are TarOx

Free to a good home if so desired biggrin
