Looking at a new head unit, like to be able to play iphone off it and make calls etc, and possibly be able to control it through steering controls?

Plenty available in budget, what exactly do you want?

Touch screen, or simple buttons?
Navigation built in or the ability to possibly add it later on?

Things like navigation will push budget up, but you can get some half decent units you can add it too. Personally I would tend to stick with Alpine or Pioneer. Plenty of units in budget though.

Not to fussed about sat nav, just the iphone connection and possibility to connect it to steering controls. I prefer buttons rather than touch screen just because its a pain in the arse trying to operate when driving but its not a major factor.
cheers

I got a Kenwood DNX9240, got ipod, phone, sat nav, dvd, can watch dvd's too. I thought it would be way too expensive but got it new from e bay as Kenwood had released an upgrade model. Easy to fit, though I havent yet fitted the kit for the steering wheel controls to work, but it came with a remote as well so not too bad.

I'd be looking for something that not only plays music from your iphone and allows full calling, but allows you to use certain iphone apps through the head unit, so if you wanted Sat Nav, it's be there, for example.

This one's great value:

You need a feature on the radio called mirror link for this, Alphin do an amazing headunit for this purpose think its the ICS-X7HD but was way out of my price think when i was looking last year about £800 but may have gone down now, worth looking at.

This gives you Bluetooth music stream , phone, CD player ,remote , usb ,google search engine, and TomTom sat nav with global updates .
I used the standard surround off eBay and gave it lots of coats of halfords bumper paint and its absolute perfect match and a great piece of kit

I would offer any help if you need it including turning the standard amp up

Best Bri
