I do often wonder why Spain is chosen for the reviews, but I guess the weather is better and there is no doubt the roads are much better too. I haven’t had time to watch all the videos yet, but from what I have seen and read it seems that the overall consensus is very positive. So very well done to all involved at AML. I think it will be interesting to see how the car fares on U.K. roads, and I really hope they sell loads of them. This launch bodes well for the upcoming models too. PS I’m looking forward to the “anything but green thread” smile

After watching a few of the track reviews now, I noted that the CCBs do indeed squeal/honk on the cars very noticeably. Different cars too and at different times (low speed and very high speed heavy braking). But at least the CCB pads appear to be the updated kind with the brake pad cutouts around where the disc meets the rotor hub.

One reviewer did mention F1 green was the most popular colour - interestingly the colour comes at significant premium being part of the 'Racing Line'. Nice colour but I still think silver is the best!

I do love the AMR green, slightly biased though. Although I don’t like hearing that everyone is going for it!

It’s very hard to keep the car under £200k.

I configured one in solid white, black interior and carbon ceramics and came to £184K. At the other end of the spectrum with the fancy interior, carbon seats, carbon brakes, exterior carbon and AMR green body; it came to £233k!

Also AMR green shows as a £15K option which is wrong as two dealers have told me it’s actually £6.7k.

Hard decision to buy a “base spec” car to ward against depreciation and kinder on the bank(somewhat). Or go full YOLO and get the spec I want but accept that’s it’s nearly £250K on a car that will lose half of that within 3 years with many trips to the dealer too no doubt.

Although the reality is that life is more of a barrier than cost. We are about to have our second child, our first has just turned 2. I don’t really have the time to be mincing about in a 2 seater sports car!

And then there’s the 707 I have. Which is frankly, incredible to drive on a daily basis and now with the OPFs removed it sounds beautiful. What does a vantage really offer me over that? Better handling and looks. Hmmm.

I'm deliberately not test driving one of these. I haven't seen one in person yet, but it looks amazing on the videos. I've been saying for a while now that my current Vantage (2019) is a forever car and I won't be getting rid of it, both my Fiance and I are really attached to it and I'd be genuinely gutted to see the back of it. I also love that it's the last of the pre OPF cars and doesn't have the incessant speed and safety warnings that new cars are now burdened with.

On the other hand, the new one is a big step up again in design and whilst I don't hate the interior of my current car as much as others seem to, the lack of functionality like Carplay is really annoying - having an air vent mounted phone in such an expensive car kind of ruins the premium feeling! I also really hate the sound system, unfortunately mine was a showroom car and has the standard stereo rather than premium, although having heard the latter it isn't much better.

Price wise, I reckon mine is only worth around £70k now. It's low mileage, PPF'd and generally babied, I also had the new front end put on only 18 months or so ago so in my eyes it's pretty much perfect. Assuming £200k for a new one, it's a huge cost to change.

I wonder how much Elwood Blue is as an option on the new one...I'd definitely have the same colour again!

Re Carplay - speak to your AM dealer or Aston Installations re having it retro fitted. Maybe £1,500?

I had a go with one that had been retrofitted but really didn't like it, it's very obviously an afterthought and isn't as integrated into the main system as it would be if it had been done from factory. Carplay doesn't work all that well when not on a touchscreen, and at around £1k to fit it makes the phone the preferred option!

Yes good question as I have never seen them either.

As for the price Ithink this new Vantage is fantastic but for under £150k I get get an absolute beauty DBS SL.

The prices are not on the configurator.

I had to send a build code to my sales contact and he then provided me a price breakdown.

As I understand after talking to the guys at Aston Installations, their kit will integrate with the Mercedes tech on the outgoing Vantage so I'm told it performs as though it was installed by Merc/AM from day one. In other words, there should not be any need for additional buttons/controllers as they have to fit in the CH cars.

Southern Spain and the Algarve make great car launch locations. Got Circuito Monteblanco (used here) to the west of Seville with Jerez to the South, and Autodromo Algarve near Portimao across the border. The circuits are relatively good value compared to other areas in Europe. Also got a very good chance of a dry test which is pretty crucial for a sports car launch. Plus easy flight access for journos to get over to the launch from across Europe and further afield. Not to mention the roads in the hills around Monteblanco and the Algarve are pretty spectacular - and importantly they're very quiet and largely unpoliced.

I think it also helps there is a good selection of luxury hotels with cheap wine to help the marketing team flatter the journos with a nice 'work' trip.

Indeed. My comment was slightly tongue in cheek. I know exactly why they do it. wink But for those of us in the U.K. who have to contend with poorly maintained and often uneven potholed roads, watching a load of lushed up journalists/vloggers etc swanning about in Southern Spain doesn’t really offer a “real world” comparison. Hence my comment re the first U.K. road test. Fingers crossed the car performs as well in a more challenging environment. BRM.

There aren’t any. You have to speak to actual people to get the pricing. (Dealership of your choice)

This is the problem Aston Martin have. If their cars retained more value, existing owners wouldn’t mind upgrading sooner.

As they drop like a stone, it makes it hard to justify.

RE CarPlay, I had my old f1 edition retrofitted. Worked OK but it is like selecting a source on your tv/monitor.

If you have CarPlay up, you can’t see your climate settings or anything from the main car infotainment. So you constantly have to switch.

Yes this is where my money would go being honest. Always lusted after the DBS SL but again £250k+ for an occasional car is too much to justify, well especially considering their exceptional depreciation.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a launch with so many simultaneous YouTube and written reviews. Well done to the PR team. Also very brave to just let these guys go berserk for 15 minute track stints back to back to back.

The amusing thing is that they haven’t had time to crib off one another and there are so many conflicting opinions. The ride is smooth, the ride is harsh. The ZF is slow, the ZF is fast. The steering is numb, the steering communicates well. There is turbo lag, there is basically no turbo lag. It’s better on the track than the road, it’s not a track car but it is good on the road. It’s better than a 911 turbo, it is not better than a 911 turbo. The only thing they all agree is that it is very fast and most all seem to really like it. I’m hoping it will be a big hit.

I just got the revised CarPlay solution fitted at the Aston dealer. It’s very well done. Reverse camera still auto switches. It uses Bluetooth for music now instead of AUX. I dislike touch screens in cars and have always used CarPlay with the iDrive in the past even though I had touch screens. The Merc wheel is pretty close to the BMW one and it works very well.

Likewise, I really wish AM well with this car.

It should be close to the top of the list for all those who Porsche (and others) have alienated by not allowing them to buy the halo Porsche's (and others !) they really wanted without being stiffed on the price ...

A top quality desirable street supercar that can do a decent stint on track ... makes it a fabulous outcome.

And look at that interior ...
