Not biased re the colour combo at all!
Just getting the A/C regassed. Really hoping it works and I get away with just having that done.
Fingers crossed it's a simple fix.Just getting the A/C regassed. Really hoping it works and I get away with just having that done.
I remember when we bought ours, the A/C wasn't especially cold. Regas sorted it for 48hrs. Turned out there was an A/C pipe leak round the back somewhere that cost a decent amount to fix. Wife was particularly annoyed at the time as she was 7 months pregnant and it was an especially hot summer. Once it was sorted, she was delighted and spent her lunch breaks just driving around to keep cool (as her office otherwise was a sauna despite 3x fans pointed at her).
A local A/C specialist is coming to have a look at next weekend. They’re unfortunately really busy since it’s warmed up a tad.

That's frustrating. Hopefully easy to diagnose where it's leaking from and not too much ££ to sort.
It’s a bit annoying but hey ho.Looking at the A/C diagram their appear to be three hoses all of which are probably very expensive and the rearmost one is probably a st to get to and will most likely be the culprit.

Before...

It actually makes a big difference to the ambience in the cabin and the leather is softer for my arm to rest on.
Still need to get the other three Silverstone door cards on and swap the passenger side for the better condition one I now have. Then it'll just be dyeing the rear upper seat backs to complete the transformation.
Made a big difference, very worthwhile.After...

Z4 passed its MOT last Thursday.
As you can see I do mega miles.

It's been out the garage literally 2 days this year and both days absolutely pissing rain. Typical.
Going to try and use it more this summer. It's got ISOFIX so will get my son out in it (nearly 4 y/o), I reckon he'll enjoy. Forgot how harsh the ride was. Need to ditch those RFTs.

In other news, E91 needed an oil top up. For some bizarre reason and totally out of character, wife decided she'd try and top it up herself.
She used the correct oil (5w/30) which I have in the garage, but topped it up via the power steering reservoir! On realising her mistake "because the oil didn't seem to drain" she tried to extract it with a syringe! She reports she only added a 'small glug' of oil.
She didn't tell me until a day later.
Decided good opportunity to drain the PS fluid....as you can see, needed it:
Topped up with ATF (as per the cap) and will repeat the process again next week (and maybe week after).
Could have been worse.

Looks like you got away with that in the end.
At least it wasn’t poured into the coolant.
Yes, at least!! I think she just got stressed as the +1 litre oil warning came up and she knew she needed to drive the car a lot that day.At least it wasn’t poured into the coolant.

Ouch! My sister did the same thing with coolant into the brake fluid reservoir - I’ve no idea how either.

Argh!
That's a close call/good save!!!
Actually, since that flush steering feels a bit lighter smoother! Might be placebo (but to be fair, fluid did look v grotty). Might be the power of 5w30. That's a close call/good save!!!

Tried to wash them both in between rain showers. Totally bored of this weather now.
I know exactly what you mean, I'm seriously starting to think I've got seasonal affective disorder in July because it won't bloody stop bloody raining. d_a_n1979 said:

Perhaps I should rephrase the question...
What did your BMW do to youtoday yesterday?
Could have ended up a lot worse.
Yeesh! That's let go, bloody hell What did your BMW do to you
Could have ended up a lot worse.
Any ideas what's caused it?
I think driving on the flat RFT for 30 miles didn't help!
Was visiting BIL/SIL in Norfolk. About 50 miles from home, heard a 'pop' soud. TPMS warning on dash 1 min later. Tyre clearly got progressively flatter until totally empty with 'thud thud sound' on driving. Tried to keep it at 40mph on hazards. Issue got progressively worse and then it gave up the ghost (very fortunately) just before a layby on the A14. When I looked at the tyre the side wall had cracked and was coming off the rim. Had to be recovered home. I didn't expect the whole thing to have torn off - I actually only saw this when I got the car home and looked underneath!
Bloody hard to get replacement RFTs in 255/35 R18. Ordered 2x Hankook Ventus (no Goodyear or Michelin available anywhere and I hated the Bridgestone RE050A tyres it originally had). I've actually bought a new (second hand) rim from eBay as I don't know how much damage done to the rim (if any). I know these particular alloys are quite fragile. I noted 95% of the ones on ebay were cracked!
Mobile tyre fitter coming Friday. I'll ask him to move the TPMS valve from the old wheel to the new one before installing the tyre.
I think the car is wearing a lot on the inner shoulders on the rear. Seems to be sitting quite low too. Shocks replaced maybe about a year ago. Could need need springs maybe?
pmorg4 said:
Springs could be sagging, and the various bushings in the multi-link rear suspension could be worn which puts the geometry out and wears the edges of the tyres. There are three arms on each side that are relatively easy to change, and they come with bushings pre-installed. It would be worth looking into changing those if they haven't been done. I have a set on the shelf ready to go on my E91 335i once I make some time to do the work.
Will look into it, thanks for the advice.Court_S said:

I don't think I've changed them in my ownership (bought at about 120k, now 167k). Whether they've been changed before, no idea.
Chances are they’re goosed then, especially as the later cars don’t have the same appetite for springs as say an E46.cerb4.5lee said:

BMWs are terrible for this in my experience. We did over a 150k miles in the E90 330d and that was really bad for it, plus I noticed it a lot because of the miles we were doing(plus the rear passenger side tyre did exactly the same as yours too). The F82 M4 I have now is also bad for it with the front tyres as well. I haven't noticed it anywhere near as much on the other none BMW cars I've had though. BMWs seem to be set up deliberately to wear the inner shoulders out more quickly I think. cerb4.5lee said:

I've looked at the other side rear now and that is VERY worn on the inner shoulder. The rest of the tread across the tyre is fine.
That was very similar to what happened to my fronts on the M4 too. They were showing a bit of the cord on the inner edges, but the rest of the tyre was a fair bit above 3mm though. Since having had the E90 330d all those years ago, I do tend to keep a pretty close eye on the inner edges...because they can really catch you out to be fair. Court_S said:

I know it’s too late but I treated the surface rust and the hole with rust converter before painting it with POR-15 rust preventer. Hopefully that’ll buy me enough time before getting it booked in for a proper repair.
