Hi All,

Iv always looked on this forum for information when it comes to diagnosing and general maintenance of BMW’s, it’s always been so helpful! Iv finally decided to join in.

I recently got a bmw 118d E87 auto on a 10 plate (98k miles), it’s my first diesel car and didn’t really drive it much before I got it serviced, as the garage I got it from agreed to have this done for me.. so I’m not sure if this issue was before or after it got serviced.

After the engine seems to have warmed up, the engine seems to rock and you can feel this in the cabin, but as soon as I put it in drive or just raise the rpm it goes away. Its very unusual as the rpms stay quite steady and doesn’t seem to be hunting. I don’t know weather it’s because it’s just had the oil and filters replaced.

I know my way round a car fairly well and do most of my own work, this being a diesel I know there are difference and it’s not necessarily going to have a misfire so I’m a bit stumped of what could be causing it. It has no lights on the dash and drives with no issues and no loss of power, all the hoses look fine as far as I can see, just wondering if anyone’s had a similar issue?

Iv has plenty of cars that have developed a misfire or hunting etc and it just feels completely different, from the drivers seat it feels like your being lightly rocked side to side. Nothing really rattles, and the engine doesn’t sound any louder than it does when running normal but sounds slightly different.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks
