Under Bonnet Heat Shielding
Discussion
Has anyone here actually fitted one of these kits?
Happy with the results?
Looks as good as the original?
Are there any gotchas?
ignore please TVR Wedge Inner Wing/Bulkhead Heat Shield Reflector Set (2013)
This one is correct: Chimaera/Griffith InnerWing/Bulkhead Heat Shield Reflector Set (2013)
Or can anyone recommend a better kit?
I am not even vaguely interested in cutting my own or improving on the design/layout, and would like the most original looking fit possible.
Any suggestions?
PMs accepted.
Thanks

I think some Wedge owners will have fitted that kit Goat Boy, but not many Chimaera owners
You're probably better off with this kit

Bargain I'd say. I bought 3m squared of the material and made my own and by the time I'd paid for the material, rivets and £30 for someone to sew the edgings in was pretty much the same price!

Does make a difference to the engine bay tidiness but engine out for the bulkhead one I think.
Which ever way you go, either purchasing a kit or making your own, a good idea is to use some perforated aluminium mesh over the top.
It helps to deflect and dissapate the heat, and it stops the foil face from getting damaged.

I had some made by the machinists at work and also fitted an inner liner of very heavy duty and high temp cloth [the horrible brown stuff in the pics]

This is confusing
I had asked for this thread to be killed because it was poorly titled, as I am looking for the full engine bay heat shielding.
And I started a new one "Engine Bay Heat Shielding".
And this one was killed, but now it's back
and says I started it yesterday!
Oh well, even moderators can't be perfect I suppose
ChimpOnGas; thanks for pointing out that I had also mis-read and mis-linked the advert I was referring to. Fixed it now.
debaron; that was my thinking on how it would work out, thanks for the confirmation.
TJC46; nice looking job there (if a bit non-standard
). Seriously, looks good, and the mesh is a sensible suggestion.
Not sure I will manage to get the mesh done though.
The engine is on the bench now, so this is the time for me to have it done, and get it all replaced in one go.
roseytvr also confirmed the kit fit well and that he was very pleased with it, albeit in a Griff; it should be indicative to quality and fit though.
Thanks guys
