How does this work?

New van ordered but dealer doesn't want to fit a tow bar before collection.

I need to get one fitted - anyone who has done this - but don't want the warranty to be affected.

Any real life experiences with this?

Thanks

If there's a fault that traces back to the towbar and wiring warranty more than likely won't cover. So if an injector fails, you should be fine. If there's an electrical fault that traces back to where the wiring was spliced in to you'll be on you're own (or chasing the towbar company).

get dealer to fit the manufacturers approved tow bar after collection

get a manufacturer towbar fitted by a third party

decline the van purchase if they wont fit the tow bar

Dealer don’t want to fit until it’s registered as it falls under the vehicle enhancement scheme and they’ve got forms/paperwork to fill in and send off (that’s if they are part of the scheme). Once it’s registered, there’s nothing to complete. They probably just want the commission from the van sale and can’t be bothered with the other work.

I think that's just right.

I've got the van now.

Vivaro L2 H1.

Interestingly, the manual just says, if you fit a tow bar make sure it meets current standards. That's very accommodating of them, I thought.

Plus, I got some quotes, then contacted my local Vauxhall place and the Vauxhall dealer is the cheapest quoter. Never expected that.
