Having a conversation with a friend yesterday about the Iveco that he's driving at the moment and he's complaining about the seat that he's sat on.
So I was wondering if there's ever been any cars with a driver's seat that has air suspension like a truck/boat?

The old Merc 190D had the seat on fairly soft springs, it's own suspension if you like.

I didn't particularly like it.

Not beyond the captain's chairs you sometimes see fitted in vans and van-based MPV. There are retro-fit kits for London cabs, and I guess the same would fit in any big old SUV or pickup.

The issue is in anything with the slightest aspiration towards driving dynamics you really want all the control points to be in consistent positions at consistent distances - tricky if you're constantly moving up and down!

the new Toyota Tacoma trd pro comes with seats that have a built in air shocks. won’t be as good as a truck seat though. AFAIK nothing like that has been fitted to a cad given the size and weight of them.
