I was almost literally rammed of the road today by some idiot who didn't like the fact that I was sticking to the speed limit on some B roads & got so close to the back of my car, I couldn't make out the make or see the number plate. This went on for a few miles until we got to the dual carridgeway where he decided to undertake me & pull infront of me & slammed on his brakes causing me & several others to almost come to a stand still. He then went to pull of onto the slip road & as I came along beside him in the "slow" lane, he then swerved back onto the dual carridgeway & almost wiped me clean out! I had to swerve into the fast lane where luckilly nothing was coming. My gf did manage to get his number plate at this point before I decided enough was enough & came of at the next junction. I went straight to the poilce station armed with the number plate but because I didn't have an "independant" witness (my gf couldn't be a witness apparently) they told me that nothing could be done & they wouldn't even take down his number plate!

In my eyes he was driving very dangerously as he was trying to cause an accident yet the police arean't interested.

I see what you are saying, but does it actually take a serious accident for the police to react?

& if the police were following this idiot, would they have ignored it? I doubt it.

So you were blocking him by driving in the right (not fast) lane? Why didn't you move to the left (not slow) lane and let him past?

This was as we both came onto the dual carridgeway, he undertook me on the hard shoulder. I was in the slow lane as we had both just got onto it.

Install a video camara in your car that shows a date and time stamp. About 80 quid from ebay with infrared for night time. Then when a idiot behaves like that you have the evidence.

I am just hoping that on his way home, he decides to do it to somebody else who may also decide to try & report him.

Sadly it appears to be acceptable to be allowed to pass vehicles in front even if they are at the maximum lawful speed because that lawful maximum is optional......apparently.

If it happens in the future you should remember that the chap behind, even though hot-under-the-collar is not likely to want to damage his polished knob-extension by ramming it into your vehicle. Just carry on as you are and allow him to pass at your convenience and everyone's safety.

I keep chuckling to myself about the name - keep reading it as hehe

The problem is if I had a falling out with a neighbour, I could report them for some really crazy dangerous driving and how are they to know that I'm not just carrying out some personal vendetta against this other person? If they start taking details and comparing them with stories in the future then you could go to another police station and report it in another persons' name etc.

I can totally see why the police won't do anything about it personally.
