Hah, cheers Andy. Did you see the Kent spotted thread? I think I saw you in the VX Saturday morning on the A2 to Faversham near the Brenley Corner end.

I wasn't in the VX at the time, shame!

Looking good, if you go for a front end repray you going to get some sort of armourfend or something on there to prevent further chips? It ain't cheap but might be worth it knowing how quickly those chips come back...
Erm...

Well...

Something like this?

Is that really suitable? This is the Ecotec engine from a Vectra we are talking about here.
I'm no expert so why would it not be suitable?

Hmmm. I think Plans recommended it because I was hoping to go on track at some point. I'll bring it up next time I go back to Plans.

I was jesting, they look utter toilet! I'll check out the armourfend, thanks for the suggestion.

I have to admit I've been thinking seriously about selling the VX and have test driven a WRX Wagon which was VERY nice (but did not feel that quick, even with the PPP). I need the practicality as Yoda won't fit in the VX for much longer!

I will miss it if I do sell, when I park up I always have a second or third or fourth glance back biggrin

Currently at Plans Motorsport getting an ABS cut off switch fitted, airbox remounted and a full geo. I bet she will feel awesome on the drive home.

Im fairly sure Vaux recommend a 5W-30 for that engine. A xW-60 will be rather thick, particularly given the chain lube issues these engines have.
I mentioned this to the guys at Plans, and they use the 10w 60 as it is the best oil for the engine. The failures tend to occur at high engine speeds which is when this oil works best. Basically I don't have the knowledge so trust the experts opinions!

Your not the only one thinking of selling mate frown I think once the front end repair is done she will be in the classifieds, as much as I dont want to, what I need it for is completley different to what I needed when I got her frown
Same here, really, but See TVR's post:

I'm sure it will feel great after the Geo and the brakes should be quite different too.

I often think about selling mine but after a great drive I then think how can I possibly sell it. I've noticed everytime I have to keep the roof on I feel like selling it; every drive with the roof off I love it!
I just had an awesome drive home, roof off, light traffic, geo just done... she was awesome. And besides, for the budget, what other car offers the same mix of performance, low running costs, head turning looks and feedback? If you discount the Elise, nothing! It is a love / hate type of car (hate it on a wet Monday morning) but love it right now biggrin

Got the ABS cut off switch fitted and there are no fault codes with the ABS now (other than when the switch is engaged, as expected).

Total cost of todays work at Plans: £445.14

Plans really do know what they are doing. Expensive, but worth it IMO.

I might try Back on Track at some point to compare.

Oh no!

How come (if you don't mind), and what next?
Two reasons - practicality (Yoda literally doesn't fit) and my flippin' neck spasms after every drive, finally had enough of it (old neck injury).

Black, excellent. Get that mapped and it will be quicker than your old STi. They develop loads of torque those 2.5 engines.
You're right, they are torquey and have no lag really unlike my STi. I'm probably going to save for a Prodrive kit which should make it fast enough (~ 300 ft lbs!).

Bloody hell mate, that was a bit efficient! Where did you sell it, or did you px it against the scoob?

I've been looking at wagons aswell....! Dont want to admit it, but the vx isnt the right car for me now frown
Yeah I did it quickly as I loved the VX, and really didn't want to get rid of her. She was running brilliantly too, all niggles were sorted but it was just the wrong time to own it.

If you want to take a look around the Wagon to see if you like it, let me know.

No worries Andy.

I PX'd the VX and got a reasonable price. I had a few dheads contact me when I put my old Impreza up for sale and couldn't be bothered with the hassle of private sale. Mind you, I doubt the same sort of person would be interested in a VX so you might be fine putting it on PH / Autotrader etc.
