How much did that little lot cost at your specialist TVR MAN?

Another pic of the Gaz Gold Pros MK2, I'm well impressed with them thus far:

And also a quick update on OA-S; I'm pretty sure I could hear crunching, rustling noises over bumps and it turns out I've got half of Whitstable beach nestled in the body work!

Same the other side!

All removed now. Tomorrow will be spent cleaning and sealing the TD's and having a look at the ABS sensors as the warning light occasionally comes on.

£80. Was very happy with that personally!

If I were you I would fit an ABS switch as I felt it made a big difference to my brakes and there have been no more scary "ice-mode" moments. There is a guide on .org although I had the specialist mentioned above fit it on a previous visit - although he just looked at the guide...

That is seriously good! Shame it would be a 400 mile drive for me hehe I'll mention the ABS cut off switch when I go back to Plans.

Its been a productive couple of days as I've finally managed to remove, clean and seal all four TDs. They look fantastic and should prove much easier to clean from now on.

Also took a quick trip to my local bodyshop who has quoted me £425 to repair and respray the entire front end (loads of stone chips) and paint the windscreen surround matte black. Repairing all the bubbles round the entire car would be around £800. I'm really happy with that, so I'll book it in to get the front and windscreen surround done and see how it goes.

As usual, a couple of pics to stop the post being too boring:

Hah, cheers Andy. Did you see the Kent spotted thread? I think I saw you in the VX Saturday morning on the A2 to Faversham near the Brenley Corner end.

I wasn't in the VX at the time, shame!

Looking good, if you go for a front end repray you going to get some sort of armourfend or something on there to prevent further chips? It ain't cheap but might be worth it knowing how quickly those chips come back...

Is that really suitable? This is the Ecotec engine from a Vectra we are talking about here.

I'm no expert so why would it not be suitable?

Im fairly sure Vaux recommend a 5W-30 for that engine. A xW-60 will be rather thick, particularly given the chain lube issues these engines have.

Hmmm. I think Plans recommended it because I was hoping to go on track at some point. I'll bring it up next time I go back to Plans.

Lol. not a bonnet bra! hurl

not sure if you are being serious or taking the mick. I'll assume you are being serious. You can get a clear vinyl sticker which is pre cut to the correct shape. Its virtually transparent when fitted and prevents stone chips and scratches. They have a pattern already for VX220 I think, although it costs several hundred £.

http://www.armourfend.co.uk/

also if you want to know anything about the engine have a look at http://www.z22se.co.uk/forum/portal/ Anything thats not covered on .org to do with the 2.2 will almost certainly be there.

I was jesting, they look utter toilet! I'll check out the armourfend, thanks for the suggestion.

I have to admit I've been thinking seriously about selling the VX and have test driven a WRX Wagon which was VERY nice (but did not feel that quick, even with the PPP). I need the practicality as Yoda won't fit in the VX for much longer!

I will miss it if I do sell, when I park up I always have a second or third or fourth glance back biggrin

Currently at Plans Motorsport getting an ABS cut off switch fitted, airbox remounted and a full geo. I bet she will feel awesome on the drive home.

I'm sure it will feel great after the Geo and the brakes should be quite different too.

I often think about selling mine but after a great drive I then think how can I possibly sell it. I've noticed everytime I have to keep the roof on I feel like selling it; every drive with the roof off I love it!

Your not the only one thinking of selling mate frown I think once the front end repair is done she will be in the classifieds, as much as I dont want to, what I need it for is completley different to what I needed when I got her frown

I mentioned this to the guys at Plans, and they use the 10w 60 as it is the best oil for the engine. The failures tend to occur at high engine speeds which is when this oil works best. Basically I don't have the knowledge so trust the experts opinions!

Same here, really, but See TVR's post:

I just had an awesome drive home, roof off, light traffic, geo just done... she was awesome. And besides, for the budget, what other car offers the same mix of performance, low running costs, head turning looks and feedback? If you discount the Elise, nothing! It is a love / hate type of car (hate it on a wet Monday morning) but love it right now biggrin

Got the ABS cut off switch fitted and there are no fault codes with the ABS now (other than when the switch is engaged, as expected).

Total cost of todays work at Plans: £445.14

Yep, TVR's post sums it up nicely, today is a great example of that, and I have hardly driven anywhere, but the roof was off!

Plans guys look like they do good work, if I do keep the old girl I think a trip is in order
