Having just got back into this after a decent layoff, I think the thing that I like the most, is unlike Fallout 3, or Skyrim, it’s not possible to be entirely good. There are choices that aren’t easy or black and white. I’ve not yet gone the raider route in Nuka World but this will probably be my next move.

I've got back on it too, spent a few days installing a good bunch of mods, have around 50 running nice and smoothly. The only thing I had issue with was getting the game to match my monitor's resolution, weirdly.. Turns out my preferences file was duplicated in a different folder, easily solved.

Started a new game with one of the 'alternative start' mods that pulls you out after the character creation and dumps you in the wasteland based on the answers to a bunch of pre-game questions, pretty cool.

I intend to ignore the main storyline as I felt it was quite weak, instead I'm just going to do a bunch of funny roleplays and do different quest lines

I would expect that many will be like me, as long as they say "Single Player" then I will be buying Fallout 5.....

Me too, although given they're currently working on the next Elder Scrolls I'm guessing we won't see it for a while.

Would you recommend any mods that are must-haves? I completed FO4 on the PS4 but I've just bought the GOTY edition on PC as I'm bored of everything else!

Running on a 2080 at 3440x1440.

Cheers

Thanks - I'll have a look! I've just installed Vortex to manage the mods.

If you enjoy the settlements side of things then Sim Settlements is a must-have mod.

If you have the PC power.

Graphics updated, Vivid Fallout - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/25714?

Improved lighting, Enhanced Lights & FX - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13596

To add to the settlement building you can place things anywhere using this, no more red, you can overlap walls/fences on defences to plug hole - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9424/

Or for example you can now build (As I did) a tree house.

Cheers - installing now.

I just had a quick play and unfortunately the game crashed to desktop in the opening scene. Good ol' PC gaming! laugh

If you have installed the build anywhere mod then it's probably something as simple as not having F4SE installed - https://f4se.silverlock.org/

Download, extract run the F4SE_loader.exe instead of the Fallout 4.exe

It's an essential download, much like the unnofficial patch.

I got this on offer with all the dlc, for pc.

Installed Artmors (sp?) unofficial patch.
His skyrim patches were mandatory.

The official high res texture pack is 55gb, what mods do you suggest instead of that ?

If you also want something a bit different try Zombie walkers - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/20485

Turns all ghouls into slow shuffling zombies that can only be killed with a head shot, plus anyone you kill will be resurrected into a zombie if you didn't kill them initially with a headshot. Fully configurable too with the settings holotape.

I’m heading back to FO4 tonight for something to do during the next few weeks.

Going to start a fresh and choose a different route to the Brotherhood. Actually looking forward to it, as looking back it’s the only game in years that’s really grabbed my attention and kept me hooked all the way through.

Back in 2016, I got about 250 hours into the game when it finally crashed out on me so I abandoned it. Now there is infinmiutely more mods as well as the DLC, I have reinstalled it again for another go. I do like Vortex. Running about 130 mods so far and it seems fine. biggrin

You'll do fine up to ~250 mods before stuff starts really breaking.
