This is my pay day treat, been watching this online and I think this will drag me and some mates away from COD3 for a while. Looks ace.

Very much so. It's brilliant fun by the way.

Been playing on PS5 since last week - when I can get on! Was amazed there was no thread on this but I didn't want to make the server issues even worse by recommending this absolute banger of a game!

I gave up on online games years ago and mainly play strategy and factory sim "dad games" or single player PS5. Then along comes HD2 and I'm suddenly planetside mowing down the undemocratic bug hordes in defense of Super Earth (and being murdered by Communist Terminators.)

Love it.

Only issue is, I literally don't have a single friend on PS Plus after having it for a decade, so I'm stuck with randoms. Anyone want a LV13 Sergeant with a penchant for grenade launchers to help you dispense some explosive Managed Democracy?

Not the sort of game I usually go for, but it was getting lots of good reviews and it's pretty cheap, even without using cd-keys.

It's pretty hard though laugh good fun with a full team unless they are numpties!

Do the easy quests 1st to rank up. On the map press L1 to change difficulty.

Cheers. Can't seem to add anyone at the moment with the server issues.

Yeah I found it pretty tough the first few missions, but progression to Lv10 is quick. I ploughed through to unlock the supply pack (which let's you carry 4 full reloads for primary & support weapon) and the grenade launcher. Then you can pop a few grenades into each bug group as they spawn and hardly ever need the resupply. Although, the grenades can ricochet back to you off armoured enemies at mid range and you've got to watch your allies carefully for friendly fire!

For Primary and close up work, suggest working through the warbond to get the SG225 Breaker shotgun which is regarded as the best gun and I'm finding to be a godsend. It's on the free warbond page 3 so not that much of a grind.

Gatling turret is a relatively easy early unlock (lv5 I think?) and versatile. Save the currency and don't unlock all the most basic strategems IMO.

That said, on a 'trivial' difficulty brood commander mission a couple of LV1 divers should be fine to dish out some fun Liber-Tea if they don't kill each other!

The difficulty on Automaton missions has been turned down thank God, because last week it was nigh on impossible with entire armies of terminators dropping continuously. I think I have PTSD.

For Democracy! flames

I am properly addicted to this, I just can't seem to get enough of it. Still on the grind to level 20 (currently lvl 15) and loving every bug squishing, robot stomping minute of it!! shoot

On level 11 now, yeah breaker is pretty good, also got the guard-dog backpack.
Missions feel easier unless they choose too high a level, did one with mostly under lv10 on extreme, just got wiped out laugh

I've put a few hours in, I think it'll be much, much more fun with a group of friends....just need to convince them to pick it up now.

I suspect it's a game that get's more enjoyable as it gets more difficult. I'm finding loads of people just running off on their own, not taking into account the team element. A few other games I dabble in (Darktide, for example) as you move up to the harder difficulties, it tends to weed out the lone wolf/rambo/crazy people and narrows down to the team players. Hopefully it's the same here.

Lots of potential, just hope it doesn't turn into a massive cash-grab *cough*destiny2*

I would imagine that if you've got a squad of friends it would be even more fun (as per earlier in the thread, I don't have PS+ friends!) but I've definitely been enjoying it with random squads. Don't enjoy solo though - too stressful!
You do get people going off piste occasionally and/or not understanding that all XP/credits are shared, but generally I've found people to be pretty cool, probably as there's zero PvP and it's truly co-op.

On the cash grab bit signs are good so far as a) the battle passes never expire b) the optional microtransaction bits are very reasonably priced and purely cosmetic c) the dev team are making all the right noises about how it will never be pay-to-win d) you can earn the super credits in game to buy premium items.

That said, if they've really sold that many millions of copies, the temptation for them to put the forthcoming mechs/power armour behind a £10+ paywall will be pretty strong!

Aren't the friend codes only valid for a limited time or, do you keep the same code permanently? I'll try adding you this evening and will also post my own code, which anyone here is free to use if they want.

play the original. It'll be much harder as it's a top down shooter where you're limited to how far you can move because you have to stay on screen so requires more team work. You can easily screw your team mates over by dragging the camera or pinching them into the wrong area.

Well I've recently learnt that stealth is a thing, albeit very lightly baked in (apparently they are going to expand on this). A few solo players have said it can be fun to do a type of Splinter Cell run on certain mission types, where you sneak around, hitting key targets with orbital strikes when needed.

Seems stealth is very much LoS - you can stand right behind enemies and they won't notice you.

Added you, I'm on #7610-5157

I realised I hadn't been able to add anyone for a week as I'd switched off crossplay - seems it has to be enabled to add friends with code.

Lv18 now but not had much time to play this week - need to put a couple of hours in to reach 20 and get the shield/railgun!

Great, I'll add you when I get on later. I've been using the railgun/shield combo quite a bit this week. I was underwhelmed with the railgun initially but, it's growing on me the more I use it.

Bought and played it last night - is quite fun as long as you don't mind dying (mainly to team-mate's miss thrown granades rather than aliens). Or badly timed air strikes. Should definitely get £30 worth of fun out of it - as long as they can fix some of the UI bugs (letters in the in game text disappear on my machine so randomly have to guess the options).
