Opted to download it. Not bad, so far when people turn up at random, they at least play the objective.

I was a bit put out though as some guy died then left the game, and he had a little flying robot that zapped bugs. I picked it up and it attached to me and followed me, then I extracted and it vanished............

Guard Dog Rover backpack.
A mixed blessing, it does a good job zapping the smaller bugs, but also very good at zapping your team mates and you.

Had some really good games and some really bad ones. The key seems to be to not hang around in the same place too long, get in, get it done, gtfo. If you hang around killing bugs you will eventually get overrun.

Definitely this. You don't get any XP or rewards for the number of enemies killed, only for the objectives. I've noticed a lot of newer players take pot-shots at every mob they see, when it's often better just to avoid the patrols as they call in reinforcements when engaged.

Plus, the more time you spend in the mission and more mobs you kill, the larger the force that will come for you at extraction.

Not a fan of the guard dog as it seems to kill as many teammates as bugs! Personally prefer the supply pack for bugs or shield for bots.

Thanks, I found it in the Ship stuff yesterday, but need to be level 10 so will be a while in any event.....

I also just had a massive flaw in the game, four of us dropped then three left after about 5 minutes which as far as I can tell means the AI thinks the number of bugs should be for four players for the duration..................... That did not end well for me....

I am looking forward to ramping up the kit although it is going to be a bit of a slog !!

I'm still enjoying this. Played my first Suicide difficulty mission and it went much better than I expected, although I think I was blessed with a team of randoms who knew what they were doing. Couldn't find the super samples though...

I am having problems joining friends lobbies when they send me an invite. It just fails to connect. Most of these people are people I've met randomly, enjoyed playing with and agreed to team up again but, I can never join them. Anyone else had this problem?

The game doesn't scale the difficulty to the size of the team so, going in with a team is always a better option.

Not had this issue, only fails to connect when joining random lobbies.

Played with you yesterday (although you might not have realised - my call sign is Sudschleife) when we got completely overrun by bugs at extraction, I died with the other two, the destroyer left, and you were running laps on your own around the point trying to hold out , managed it somehow for 90s then got stomped by about 15 bugs as you ran for the shuttle door hehe

Great skills on display there fella. I've not played much this week and suddenly everyone seems to be rinsing suicide difficulty like it's no big deal. Maybe it's because I'm not good at aiming with a PS5 controller...or possibly I'm just not democratic enough!

Is this purely online multiplayer or is there any solo to get some practise before diving in and spoiling someone else's game?

You can pay solo and on the lower difficulties you'll likely manage, but the game comes alive with others, it's still great fun even when someone is messing up and accidentally killing the whole team with a misplaced air strike or similar.

Sorry mate, I didn't realise that was you! That was a fun game, I remember running the laps and thinking wtf am I going to do about all these bugs - haha! I actually thought I might be able to extract but, it was a bit too busy for that and as you say, got stomped!! hehe

I'll know it's you next time thumbup

The bugs themselves are no different in the higher difficulties - suicide level bugs die just as easily as easy difficulty bugs. The scaling comes in numbers and enemy types. You'll get more of the major and elite enemies and greater numbers overall the higher the difficulty.

Enjoying this so far as I've got a group of mates to play with however I did have a couple of Randoms on games last night and it was still great. The guys knew how to play and played towards the common goal, I'm still looking for a jump button though which is frustrating but I think that's coming from COD3. I suppose the jump-pack does help.

Looking forward to the big balancing patch to make some options more viable....but I also await the massive backlash from the neckbeards when their meta changes.

I'm enjoying it more now the difficulty is higher - although I do find people quitting as soon as you're on the ropes; it's like if they think you're not going to steamroll it, it's not fun and they're out. Typically noted with low-levellers on high difficulties.....yet the "OMG we're all going to die" is the fun bit!

Oh that is interesting, I was sure I played a couple of rounds on my own and they seemed a lot easier.. Must just be me not realising.

I do wish team members would stop shooting and throwing grenades at me though...........

There is but, it's a pretty major trade-off as many of the powerful support weapons require a backpack and, even post nerf, the shield is still very strong.

I did a bit of testing after yesterday's patch - Breaker feels almost exactly the same, just slightly more frequent reloads. Flamethrower is very strong now but, it is very easy to burn yourself to death (as I discovered on multiple occasions!!) hehe It was very good against chargers though and kills them fairly quickly.

Autocannon felt really good against bigger enemies but, I need more practice with chargers what to aim for. Hitting the front legs didn't seems to do very much.

I didn't use the railgun since the nerf so, no idea how that will feel Unsafe mode is the only viable options apparently.
