Drinking in Leeds
Discussion
What sort of pubs do you like? Personally I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a red hot poker than venture down Greek Street for a night out.
We tend to go out mid afternoon, and go to pubs such as the Adelphi, Whitelocks, Mr Foley's, The Hop, Victoria Hotel amd Town Hall Tavern (which has just been done out and now serves great food).
Personally I like proper pubs which serve real ale, decent pub grub and don't need to have doormen.
Post up what sort of place you're looking for and hopefully someone can direct you.

You'd probably find it harder to find a street without a drinking emporium on it these days but it would be good to know what kind of thing you fancy - real ale? Cocktails? Cheap shots? Sofas? Loud music? etc etc
I quite like North Bar, Norman, Jakes Bar and the Elbow Room but it really depends on who else is in there - sometimes it's a nice chilled experience and other times it's full of shouty sweary meatheads.

There are so many to choose from though, it's difficult to stay sober but you can work off the calories walking from one side to the other if you like.
Apologies for lack of reply - it was a last minute post before setting off.
We got off the train, into heavy heavy rain, and unfortunately made the Yates around the corner our first port of call - bascially to get out of the rain.
Rammed with hen and stag doos.
Once the rain had stopped we moved on to the Calls area and spent most of the afternoon / evening around there, in quite pleasant surroundings once the sun came out.

Heading to Leeds next saturday for a re-union with the boys from Uni and need reccommendations for a few places to have a decent drink in / have a nice meal at.
We are staying at the Hilton so local to there would be good, also we are all in our late 30's now so no dives or cheap 'shot' bars full of stag and hen groups please!!!

The Mint Hotel behind the Hilton has the "Sky Bar", The Hop (http://thehopleeds.co.uk/) is in the Dark Arches next to the Hilton (large groups of chaps need to be announced to them in advance) and from there you have a choice to head up past the station (via the Scarborough Taps perhaps) into the centre or cross the road, wander down Sovereign Street and explore The Calls area or go up Call Lane and around the Corn Exchange. Lots of choice for most tastes and budgets depending on how far you want to wander but once you get past the unofficial gay area there tends to be a more mature audience compared with the north end of town.Heading to Leeds next saturday for a re-union with the boys from Uni and need reccommendations for a few places to have a decent drink in / have a nice meal at.

I really rate Mojo's, and on a saturday night it really is great. Small venue but great music and an awesome atmosphere. Well know, awesome rock music all night. Drink prices are high enough to keep the riff raff out but low enough that you could have a good night for £50.
It's changed! I walked down there today and it's been given a make-over and called something else... I'm hoping it has moved? My favourite was 'The Hop' but am open, I like Sandanista, The Wardrobe and Aglassto
