What happened to this G4 in the end?
Discussion
Those were the days my friend, they said they'd never end... well, they did!
Not a 'normal' car in sight. Donington (on the hill), Good GOC meet that day. Even a couple Gilberns in the pic. This was after many had left (late in the day).
Smiley hairy chappie must be Steve G, with the G4S4 on trade plates (one of the first time outings?)
Strange black object on roof of my G15 was the first Blackwell grp G15 boot spoiler. Can't remember how the heck I got it back home, what with my wife and 6 month old daughter in car? But then, Roy Burrel used to have the whole family travel in his G15!
'Elf an Safety would have had us behind bars today!
Oops, forgot pic! Here it is.

Just found another snap of the car. We (the Club) used to rule the roost in those early 80s!
This is a Pub car park (Reading area if my memory serves well) and while the G4S4 is the main car (with Steve G at the wheel again), there are 14 Ginettas in this pic with just a solitary Cortina going past on the road in the background.
As I said, those were the days when Ginettas totally filled pub car parks!

Mr Burrell still has said G15 undergoing restoration - was with him at the weekend chatting with Carol about it being the everyday family car, he has just treated himself to a G27, fancies a bit of wind in the hair Ginetta motoring for a change.'Elf an Safety would have had us behind bars today!
I am the current custodian of the blue G4/4 the original poster asked about.
I am NOT the current owner, but it is in my workshop.
I can confirm the car will not be for sale in the near future, but hopefully will make a reappearance at the Ginetta anniversary next year.
A lot of the information in the post about this car is factually inaccurate at best. The car is a G4/S4, NOT a G27 as a previous poster has alluded to. Also, the bonnet is a widened version of an early G4 bonnet.
The car was built as a road-going hillclimb car for some of the old workshop guys that worked for Spadge, but due to the downturn in business with the recession etc the decision was made to sell the car to free up some funds.

Almost down to a bare chassis now. There's some horrible work on this car that will need rectifying before it goes back on the road.
Rear brakes totally seized up, no triangulation at all etc.
I'll be redesigning the steering column too so it's not just a spear to the drivers head in the event of a heavy shunt.
There has been a lot of fabrication work on the go with this chassis, but it is now completed and painted up.
The rear end has been rebuilt by Jaguar/Triumph racing specialists, Retro Engineering Ltd in Redditch.
The owner wants to keep the current 1300 cross flow engine (I did try to persuade them to splash out on something a bit more pokey which the chassis etc is crying out for).
Sorry, keep finding random pictures dotted about my hard-drive. Need to keep them a bit tidier...
Adding some side bracing into the tub.
Making a bracing panel for the cross member behind the bulkhead. It was so flexible I could squash it by hand. We elected to stiffen this up a bit, but not adding much weight. Nice thin panel hole punched and swaged to add some stiffness.

Thanks Terry. I used to work at GH in the dying days. Glad to still keep my hand in with the marque, but the day job etc gets in the way of progress on the car(s).
The rear end is just a Jaguar IRS set up. Way too big and heavy for the 1300 cross flow... the car's screaming out for a V8 or at least a very pokey four/6...
The rear of the chassis has been chopped about a bit to fit it in. I met the guy that did it at the Ginetta 60 event at Wroxhall Abbey last year. He's got a green one that's running a Triumph engine.
