A few for Ken, Easticks D-type:

Funnily enough, I've just put a picture of that car on my wall smile

Zieglers D:
Been driver around Goodwood in this one, very shortly after Stafan bought it.
I'd met the previous owner up a Brize Norton a few months earlier, when he was showing off his Spitfire, but only because his Mustang wouldn't start that morning.
(PS we aren't talking cars here)

I was horrified when Peter Hugo told me it was going to be painted powder blue. But when Stafan showed it me at XK60 I loved it.

How did Stephan and Melvin get on in their race? I haven't seen the results or had a chance to talk to Melvin since.

Shortnosed Monteverde/Pearson D-type.
So it's been sold again now.
I saw it at Goodwood last year for a trackday. Then I saw Duncan Hamilton was offering it for sale. Sadly the useless crowd at Camalot didn't pull my numbers out from the £100M Euro lottery draw so I wasn't able to pop round the corner and buy it.
It's always such a pleasure to go shopping at that place.

Chase-Gardener/Allen Aston Martin DB2 did a best 3:30. I want this one for Christmas purlease!
Only if I can have the white D.
I understand it was driven by some careful well known Scotsman.

Cheers Tom: I - we! - enjoyed your car to the max. Shame we missed but there's always next year.

Cheers Ken:

Aren't those cars just mega! I love that blue on the Ziegler car. It behaved so much better compared to last year.

The white D looked like it had not been touched for 50 odd years! A complete timewarp.

Tachyon Motorsport joined the Spa Six-Hours 2009 endurance race with the Corvette Grand Sport. Michiel Campagne joined the race with Allard Kalff and Michael Bleekemolen.
In this part you see the first 2 laps of the race and some highlights. Driver is Allard Kalff.

The White D is XKD517, it was the subject of an article in Octane a couple of years ago.
It was the subject of a major rebuild at CKL after being damaged. The original bonnet had been wrecked back in the 50s and had been sitting around ever since. It was all put back together. But it does look like a total time warp car. I'd certainly give it house room. I'll see if I can dig out the copy of Octane for you.

Woodcote Trophy is one of my favourite races. Why? Easy: drivers have to really workout to stay on tarmac, epic to watch that. Shapes are so lovely, as are the sounds. Some of the cars were featured in the magazines, the ex-Jim Clark XKD517 for instance. The history these beasts breathe makes you feel humble . . .

Madly in love with this DB3 roadster:

OMG how lovely is sir Stirlings desmo 1.6 OSCA.

Can't believe I met the guy . . .

Stylish HWM Jag sports.

There's so much more. Internet is patient . . .

Probably, but could be the driver.

At Silverstone I saw a very glamorous looking young lady driving around the paddock area in a pre war Lancia race car. Not sure I managed to get a picture of the car, but it was very nice.

Great pics (as always)
Cheers

Spa Six Hours 2009 - Voiture 65 - Porsche 2.0 de 1965.

At 8.57 he passes Richard Evans' MGB wheel - with centre missing and at 9.22 he passes his MGB with sparks coming off the nearside disc.

Richards wheel broke and here's part of his story:
"I came through Pouhon and Les Fanges fine but with no warning as I turned into Stavelot my front left wheel parted company with the car and flew off into the gravel. I was flat out in 3rd and just about to take overdrive so doing about 90mph. The car crashed to the ground but I managed to steer it around the corner with the disc and hub scrapping along the ground. What should I do? I knew the race was over as far as a result and was concerned but we couldn't just stop after less than 15 minutes could we? There was only one thing for it - drive back to the pits on three wheels - so that is what I did. 2 miles or thereabouts.

I stopped outside the pit garage amidst a huge throng of people and lept out to survey the damage, The wheel had BROKEN. The centre was still attached to the hub and the disc was somewhat hexagonal after dragging on the road for so far. After some discussion and checking we put another wheel on and I went out again, somewhat gingerly. We had lost eight and a half minutes plus the extra time it had taken me to get back to the pits and we were 98th and last."

Bloody exciting stuff if there ever was one!
I was watching from the Bus STop when he came round - hammered it on the bike back to the garage to change the Wheel! Exciting - er your bet............
