Bushy today!

I've done it a few times before, but had friends who wanted to, we struggled to find a date we could all go and could be reasonably sure of good weather...were very lucky that it was beautiful day so we could sit outside the Pheasantry for coffee afterwards.

Just a normal Bushy day with 1604 finishers eek

1000th finisher in exactly 30 minutes. That's a nice round stat.

I've only come here to say that junior DKL won his first junior parkrun this weekend. Yes there were some missing but you can only race those on the start line.
It's been a long time since I raced and even longer since I won so I think probably I was more proud than he was, so winning by proxy will have to do!
Well done boy!

Sounds great. I’m hoping to take part at Bushy sometime this summer - just need to avoid their 1,000th event (currently scheduled for 31st August) as I expect that will be even more manic.

By the way, what are the logistics like? I’ll have to drive - are the traffic and parking anything to worry about?

Following my posts on the subject a few pages back, I see the parkrun shop has restocked the milestone T-Shirts. All sizes now available other than XXL for the '100' shirt, curiously enough.

Ordered as fast as my fingies could type to avoid disappointment hehe

Weeks to avoid (unless you want to be there with the crowds!) are 999th, 1000th and 20th birthday on 5 October. They're expecting maybe 3000 yikes

Traffic - no problem, there aren't many people going anywhere other than parkrun first thing on Saturday, we did 50 miles from Brighton in an hour.

Parking - we arrived at 8.30 and the carpark near start was already full, there's no on road parking in the park but plenty of space at Hampton Court Green car park on the A308 10 mins walk from start, 1.50/hr pay by phone or cash.
There is other parking in the park but that probably gets full as well.

Alternatively it's a short walk from Hampton Court or Teddington stations, or a slightly longer walk (or warm up wink) from Kingston station.

I’ve only been to one inaugural parkrun and yesterday attended their 10th anniversary event. It was nice to get a photo with those who ran event #1. At the time it was my nearest parkrun and became my home event although I rarely go there now after having my bag stolen there.

5 mins quicker than I was 10 years ago. Shame I won’t be repeating that improvement in 2034…

Getting into the swing of things with Parkrun now. 4th consecutive week of PBs for me on that particular course with 22:03. Was slightly annoyed I didn't notice earlier as I would have kicked a bit earlier. Still way off my all time PB of 19:54 although that was a very flat course and I was about 10kg lighter!
