I'd love a set of 4i, 5i, 6i in the Wilson Staff CBs and then the 7i-PW in the blades. I might do that at some point, I rarely miss on the toe and don't tend to notice too much difference between the blades I've tried and 'game improvement' irons, other than actual face size, my bad shots on 'forgiving' clubs also don't go very far hehe

I've had a few hits now with my Wilson D9 Forged irons, I'm liking them a lot. I was looking forward to more time out on course, until it started raining again...

The Nike irons are fking gorgeous Bodhi, although I've probably said that before. You commented that the 2 handicap player had better bad shots, do you think that's shot choice or shot execution? Are you making the right choice but not practiced enough to execute it, or making the wrong choice?
I'm a big advocate for picking up a second hand bladed 7 iron or the like and just using it for practice at the range, they can be brilliant for practicing the strike itself, and you can usually get old fitting clubs for nice and cheap.

That's also a very interesting question on comparing my bad shots to the chap off 2. It was me him, and me mate off 7 - they both shot 80 and I ended up with 84, and I can point to 3 holes that made the difference:

1st - the four putt....first putt was from just off the green and it rolled on further than I thought it would, leaving me a fairly make able 5 footer back. Hit that bang on the line I wanted, just after it left the face it hit a bobble which knocked it left so went 2 foot past, and my shattering confidence meant I missed that one too.

4th - hit my first tee shot just OOB. There's a pond on that hole about 230 yards from the tee on the right, and you can guarantee that will be the one tee shot I lose right all round.

5th - a Par 3 I pulled a 6 iron left deep into some trees, got out but left myself 30 feet for par, then 3 putted.

Probably 6 shots gone right there - and we don't talk about 16, where I got on a Par 5 in two then 3 putted. Greens were tough though, a lot of bobbles and inconsistent breaks. I did go on a run from 8 to the 14th where I couldn't miss with a putter - just one of those I guess.

Whereas the guy off 2 even when he mist one was still very much in play, and he never had more than 2 putts.

Still its shown me what I need to do to shoot lower scores, so a good day overall imo.

Any recommendations within 20 mins of m4 between Bristol and Reading?
Bowood Park is meant to be really nice.

Also congrats to everyone who braved the weather this weekend and bit great scores.

Hahaha great reply!!

I love the Smoke Ai - I moved from a Ping 425 Max to it - I did have the Paradym Driver for about 2 weeks while I waited for this to come but just couldnt get on with it (Shaft more than head I expect) but the Ai was worth getting - I have gain 10-12 yards over my Ping but cant say I have lost any control or forgiveness, if anything gained off miss centred strikes. And it sounds wonderful when hit too

Highly recommended it for a better driver of the ball.

I do love a camo bag in fairness - this is my current one (with headcovers missing from previous photos)

Difficult to see on the photo, but my putter headcover is modelled on Samuel L Jackson's wallet from Pulp Fiction and says "Bad Motherfker" on it - which can be fun at some of the stuffier courses I end up playing.

Very interested in the PXG kit as well Andy - how you finding it?

Sounds good! I have a Rogue ST currently. Did demo and nearly order the Ping 10k, but then did a back2back with the Callaway and it was longer by 10-15y. So many good drivers out there really

That's is a great putter headcover!!

I love my PXGs - This is my second set of their irons, I had the 0311T Gen 2 before (I do still have them)
I moved from Mizuno 919 Tour Irons to to them
They feel as soft as the Mizuno's, but have a bit more forgiveness on off centre strikes - And I think they look brilliant!!

The Wedges, honestly I wouldn't ever move away from them, pricey yes, but IMO play nicer than Vokey being fully forged then completely milled. They are impressive - I got mine in a sale so was happy at £200 a wedges vs the £600 or what ever they claimed to be new

Ah interesting - I've heard lots of good things about them, especially the blade model they do - is it the ST?

They got a lot of grief when they first appeared for the prices they charged (and the KABOOM BABY) but they seem to be getting far more reasonable these days.

I came from a G425 as well. Smoke is suited to me so much more and as you say much better sound and feel off the face.

Wrx forums gave me some advices long story short feel head moving forward and down throughout swing (had a tendency to pivot over trail leg)

Like the rest of you hardly any golf on a course so far this year but it’s quite a simple thought to work on if you feel you are a back foot hoick/flipper

13 gir Friday at crews hill but admit it was playing very soft, porthcawl tues in poor weather will be the test lol

Looks very stack and tilt from FO. From your past posts, you're a very good golfer (cat1), I'm surprised you're changing stuff due to forum feedback tbh.

However, if you are taking internet advice, then I (a less talented golfer), would say that all your swing videos, look too controlled if anything, with no dynamic release of the clubhead.

Tough morning, very windy but kept it in play well.

Bit sloppy with loose drives on the 13th and 18th led to a couple of double bogeys but shot 80 for 36 points.

4 birdie putts that I still can’t understand how they didn’t drop! Frustrating.

Anyway, good for 5th place. 41 won it!

Nice little warm up for Tuesday at Chantilly.

They are adjustable weights and can make huge differences to how the clubs play
