Well I fially joined the gang.
Cosmos black (or whatever it is) wagon with red extended leather interior.

I will miss my B10 (which in some ways remains a better car) but what a stonking engine and I'm loving the estate car versatility.

Hurrah!

Which B10 was it? my dad had the 3.3.

For now I'd start learning how to work with the gearbox, fond the best setting for you in M mode, MDM helps a lot, then DSC off, unlock the extra gearbox setting and have a go of hitting the sweet spot for changes, it's sensational!

Oil, Opie do 20L for around £150

And enjoy it!

I've still got the B10 V8, although have a chap coming to look on Saturday, so I will have to take her out for a last blast tomorrow morning just in case he's serious.

I've not unlocked the extra gearbox setting yet, just not had time. I presume its suitably ferocious?

You just have to turn TC off to select S6, or program it into your M button. Takes all of 10 seconds smile

And yes it is noticeably moee violent than S5!

Black wagon with red leather.

Holy cow that S6 gearchange is savage! Not entirely sure that can be good for the drivetrain???

Well it probably gives you the least clutch slippage smile
You're supposed to lift a little when changing gear though, think of it like a manual box.

I did exactly this on our way down to Dorset on Friday evening driving over the Deverills. I pushed the magical M button which I'd preset to S6 and flattened the loud pedal. What followed was the horizon being pulled towards me at a phenomenal rate and at a rate the actually starts to scare you a little when the road is slightly uneven. I've never had to apply that amount of concentration in any car I've driven and the way it hides it's weight at those speeds is quite remarkable, especially for a barge weighing in at nearly 2 tonnes.

What a car.

Do any of you run spacers on the wheels? Been looking and they sit well inside the arches. Thinking a slightly wider stance might assist with looks?

Certainly do my friend and it really looks good. I'm running a 15mm spacer on each corner and there's only one piece of road that makes the left hand side scrub ever so slightly but it's a huge dip so don't let that put you off.

I read good things about Bimecc and their price was keen so I went for those. Delivery was very quick as well.

I know it sounds ridiculous when talking about such an amazing car like the M5 but it really needs lowering at the front slightly.
I'm considering purchasing some 25mm Lowtec springs which will hopefully reduce the bridge like void up front.

No worries. Just so you know, the wheel nut torque for the E60/E61 is 120Nm.

Hi,

I'm looking for some M5 help. I've been looking for a while and have seen this example

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...

The cost of the car is great but it's more the running costs and at 71k it won't get mondial cover which is a great shame.

Can anyone offer any worldy advice before I go and take a look?

Thanks
Minty

I'd avoid that to be honest - claims to have lost the service book with the service history and has got a replacement book that just needs to be filled in - why doesn't he do that himself???
