Justin Cyder said: helpful stuff Thanks for that, I think I'm going to take the plunge. I'm off on holiday in september, so I can take that and my headphones with me and not disturb the family too much. I've got one of the Justin Guitar books, which has tabs and instructions for a load of songs so I can load them up and use that to help. Cheers!

It's a brilliant thing to play an instrument. I never harboured ambitions beyond playing with my mates in pubs, but now I'm doing it, I love the buzz of putting your money where your mouth is even if it is just in front of one bloke with a flat cap & a whippet who wishes you'd shut up so he can enjoy his pint of mild in peace.

Great collection there 6th Gear. EMG do something very similar though: http://www.emgpickups.com/products/index/81/7/1Was considering putting them on my one How does it sound with them on? It is a lovely colour! I love my Strat, my favourite guitar without a doubt.

Something you might want to consider also is http://riffstation.com/ software - not tried it yet myself but looks good and its cheap (so as long as you have a laptop)

E-Band will arrive this morning, so I expect I'll have to spend a bit (lot) of time getting the hang of how that works.

I personally have no experience of playing with the Sensors or the EMGs but generally, players who use a lot FX seem to use the EMGs and like them for their clarity even when a load of FX is chucked on, although I have seen many a capable player coax a wonderful vintage-y tone out of them. For example, utube link (<=First couple minutes, nice dynamics and can hear a bit of its touch sensitivity).

Bit of a bummer when you want that Steinberger out of the back What's the Godin like GC? I've always liked the look of those.

/\ easiest guitar I've ever played. By a mile.
To record it's good. Not as good as a good acoustic guitar.

I've had a load of nice swag in my time but I decided that my meagre skills didn't do expensive guitars justice and sold everything. My favourite was probably the blueburst Rickenbacker 330 I had, although I was terrified of marking the finish. Anyway, I bought a Squier Deluxe Strat a few months back and it's fantastic, definitely among the easiest-playing guitars I've owned. I think the quality of entry-level instruments has come along massively in the past few years, and I think you could gig a mid-level Squier with no problems. Pics from when I first bought it:

Pics from when I first bought it: That looks like a nice spec guitar. I love that it has Seymour Duncans in it at a reasonable price. Having used JBs in my LP and SG it's fair to say that I'm a bit of a Seymour Duncan fan.

I find them to be a little shrill but to be fair the guitar only cost £229, and I have absolutely no complaints other than that. The neck and frets are excellent, and that's what is most important to me.

GetCarter......Not sure if serious .....One can never tell on PH Practice amp - Chap's 1st name is Brian. May you both try harder to decipher the Surname. You might want to Vox it. Ouch. Assuming we're all on the same Page here. This is another I was fortunate enough to become recipient of a while back...;).... I'll refrain from even going anywhere near mentioning the signed Album I gave to an Ex's brother years ago. That was a MAMMOTH mistake. He erupted upon receipt however.

Pumpkinsteve, Id like to know more about the Strat. I bought a Squier Tele custom 2 a while back and really love, but I feel I need a strat in my life as well, and Im not a real fan of single PU strats. With that in mind Ive been looking at Squier Strats as well.
The hotrails look like a nice idea for me, as I like a bit more beef than standard. I fancy one of these over a HSS strat.
Loads of stuff on YT,but always nice to hear a real opinion.
