On the other end of the spectrum, my channel got monetised this week, safe to say it won’t be paying for itself for a long time hehe

I think you would need regular viewpoints in the 50-100k+ region to even scratch a minimum wage.
Show us round your house mister!! wink

Congratulations - let’s hope you can had a few zero’s to that soon.
£0.480000000 ?
£00000000.48 ?

wink
hehe

Just watched your latest video (the Nurburgring one - first time viewer of anything on your channel) and wow you certainly put some effort into the editing and recording..........I generally like the format and can tell they must take you a long time to put together (I will watch stuff when I appreciate the effort people put in).

However, some honest feedback.......it's way too long. I personally look at the video length first and if I see more than 20 minutes (yours is 48:59) I just skip through it. I get that it's a one off (most of yours are much shorter) but I love the chapter points you've done, really makes a difference to my viewing, but all in all I enjoyed it and another subscriber!

Keep up the hard work.....like someone posted earlier.....this time next year Rodney.....
Thanks for the feedback and for subscribing! I knew a longer video was always going to be risky. Likely the smart play would have been a single 15 minute video but I wanted to document both experiences to have something to look back. As you said I try to keep most normal videos in the 8-16 minute range as there no point doing longer than that.

Road trips are also poor performers generally, at least at this stage in the channels life as the audience is not as attached. That will (hopefully) change in time.

I’m picking up a new project car this weekend that should be a lot of fun.
Whats your channel? I'll give it a look and help a brother out 😁

I will usually try and leave PHers videos running muted in the background when on meetings etc, I'll try and find a 30 min+ one but they are few and far between.

Me too. I reckon we should have a sticky thread with all the channels on somewhere

I think something like that was posted about before, but PH don't allow free self promotion

Quick, someone tell the company that has been moving cars in and out of the RAC club for about 20 years that some weirdo on the internet doesn't think their setup is good enough.

I'm sure they'll do a hasty H&S review and complete redesign for the next event, with a small sign that says 'Thanks to 614-HSO on Pistonheads, this car was brought in here safely and securely after a comprehensive safety review. We owe him our lives'

I'm not really sure that 614's comment warranted that lever of sarcasm.

I get about £300 a month for around 80k views.

Realistically, noone is going to make a career out of it, unless you have some major USP these days.
Kinda makes you wonder then what people like Mat armstrong are pulling in with their views, I came across 1 video he did on the M5 comp he has/had and that had 16m views alone that's without all the other videos he has done and the sponsorships etc.
MA had over 24 million views in the last 30 days. I know it's not this simple, but if you pro-rate those figures then it's about £90k per month.
He had another 12m views on his second channel...

If I was in a position to buy an exotic car these cowboys would be the last person I'd hand money over too!

Did anyone listen to his Podcast episode on The Road to Success?

He's been working on sales deals since he was 2 and buying / selling supercars from 9 apparently.

I had to turn it off.
