My town's crap now, it'll be crap when the gas cornetto passes through and it'll be crap when it's gone*. There.. 'feel better now! *along with all the money they'll fritter away on the planning, preparation and delivery of this inanity-fest; money they can't afford at the same time as cutting back on so many other things we actually give them our taxes to pay for.

Well tomorrow it comes up to Exeter, but I've a choice of going to watch it, or going karting, and I think I know which one I'll be doing.
It'd be nice to see it though.

I understand the route comes very close to us, but I don't know where or when. Ta You could try this http://www.bbc.co.uk/torchrelay Or to find out where it will actually be visible, not carried in a Ford Transit, go to the official Olympic route page enter your postcode on the search then zoom in on the map until the dotted line resolves to partly solid with start and finish (S & F) flags. "Torchbearers will carry the Flame through more than 1,000 cities, towns and villages" - In 70 days, so mostly not on foot - "While during convoy mode it will be within a vehicle so the opportunities to see the flame will be limited"

Ta There's an interactive map on the official website, not sure how well it will work on a phone mind http://www.london2012.com/torch-relay/route/I'm glad the flame has its own little show rather than being in the middle of a massive convoy of corporate stuff, I'm planning on going up to watch it near me and don't want it to be a little flame poking up above a massive cordon of coppers and logos!

I guess if you're trying to average 114 miles per day an average speed of two or three miles per hour isn't going to cut it. Imagine the near endless miles of countryside the torch would be walked through almost unnoticed - thus it makes sense to me for it to be whizzed along in the back of a van on the qquiet bits so as to maximise time in the more populated areas so a larger chunk of the populace can view it ore easily.

I see the sense of it, but the route will come straight past our village (600+ homes) on a main road and looked like a good chance for the kids at our school to see it. Having drilled down into the details of the map now, we will have to take the girls out of class, drive 5 miles to the next village (which is congested at the best of times) just to see it run 100yds and then sit in traffic to get back. Just a bit disappointed really - So near and yet so far. And I work right next to the stadium so several weeks at work this summer are going to be a nightmare. And we didn't get any tickets so we can only watch on TV ... Games might as well be abroad not 25 miles from our house <pout, sulk, stampy foot>

For me, the most impressive thing so far is how the Greeks managed to get away with flying our flag upside down without anyone from our Olympic committee or the meeja pointing the fact out to them. Disgraceful.

The UJ is flown upside down so often they should change it!
I feel sorry for the people that are guarding the torch - having to put up with morons running with the thorch or trying to interfere with it.

Disgraceful. greece are a sinking ship... ....and they're in distress. The flag was flown upside down by far flung garrisons that had been overrun to show arriving British troops that all was not well inside. So, what you're getting at is that the Greeks are showing their distress to the World by flying our flag upside down? Genius! I must rush to their aid!

they can't be genuine bids surely?
anyway, there are 8,000 torch bearers and each one had the chance to buy their torch for £240 (apparently subsidised from a cost price of £495), so there will be loads of them available soon enough

It will be here in Lincoln on the 27th and 28th June. Luckily it will be on a propper running section through the city at a time I can take my daughter without the need to remove her from school, so all good.

Running round the country with a torch...surely the biggest waste of effort ever. Watching it...terminal lunacy
