Glenn Kirschner points out that each of trump's ten counts of criminal contempt lays him open to either a $1000 fine or up to 30 days in prison. Says imprisonment would be relatively easy as there are already special sections of prisons in existence for 'protected' inmates, or closed-down wings that could be re-opened. Three options he identifies here: his Secret Service protection officers could sit outside the cell, or trump could lose his protection as a result of conviction, or the SS could enter into an agreement with the appropriate prisons and marshals services to make it work. Kirschner thinks trump probably wants to get jailed for the money-raising potential.

Lets not forget that this would also open him up to possible violations in his other cases...

If Trump were to go to prison, and the Secret Service would be required to protect him, who's going to volunteer for that detail? I suppose some of the SS might be Trump supporters, but you'd have to be a real fan to want to stand outside a cell for hours at a time.
I believe the Secret Service has already made plans if Trump is imprisoned. He's probably the one former president who really needs protection, not just from his enemies but his fans are quite unhinged as well (probably a bigger risk than his enemies).

As for it being a boring task... Secret Service agents are still government employees and there's nothing a government employee likes more than to be paid to stand around and do nothing hehe
trumps a germophobe, he really doesn't like people getting close to him, unless it's a pretty young thing who wants a photo with thumbs up

I love this picture of the happy couple.

They do make a wonderful pair.
Is that Stormy?
Karen McDougal, who in addition to being an ex-Playboy Playmate of the Month and Playmate of the Year, is apparently also an avid motorcycle and car collector, owning a rare TVR 420 SEAC.
Apparently it would start, splutter and die after about 30 secs, but she did have that affair with trump for about a year so must have seen something in him.

As for the car, no idea

Reports trump fell asleep again in court

Weird because he's complaining the court is really cold, but it's not keeping him awake
https://twitter.com/i/status/1783868450974163350

Harry Litman,
"trump heavy-lidded, seems to be dozing off," Litman noted at 10:03am, before reporting 16 minutes later that trump was "Asleep for several minutes," before writing almost 20 minutes later "Again asleep, b/t his two main lawyers."

Neither lawyer attempted to "rouse" their client, despite Litman's observation that this is a typical practice.

"Sorry Darling, well take a raincheck on your birthday. I'm in court for sleeping with a porn start after you gave birth to our son. Oh and that bunny girl I had an affair with for a year, oh and for killing the story I made another woman pregnant..."

Slate make the point

"Five justices sent the message, loud and clear, that they are far more worried about trump’s prosecution at the hands of the deep-state DOJ than about his alleged crimes, which were barely mentioned."

More lies because his failthful haven't turned up. They didn't respond to his pleas, but he can't take that so needs to lie to settle his own mind...

Many reporters are saying the courthouse is open the public. The park outside, where a handful of his supporters have gathered on trials days, is easily accessible.

Yes, utter lies.

Been reported from multiple sources that there is no heavy handed NYPD enforcement or limited access to the courthouse. The reason that he's pissed is that none of his MAGA faithful have turned up.

Asked a colleague who is in NYC if this is true and they were able to confirm this - its deserted and no one there. Thought they did say that there are still a whole bunch of media trucks and their associated satellite dishes (but increasingly Starlink). So yeah, he's deliberately trying to drag up support.

Seemed perfectly happy with allowing COVID to spread rampantly.

The Constitution is the Supreme Law - any decision the SCOTUS makes is upholding the Supreme Law.
Just happens to be the case that decisions are divided along party, regardless of the legal reasoning.

SCOTUS has always been hugely political. The legal reasoning divides along the same lines.

When you say political reasoning, you mean political bias.

I didn’t say political reasoning. SCOTUS has always been political, it is not that long ago that the Justices would be politicians.

The legal reasoning, though, divides along similar lines to the political divides. The democratic appointed judges are never going to join in with the ‘historical’ interpretation that led to overturning roe vs wade for example.

More of trumps witness tampering was evident yesterday
Rhona Graff, Trump's longtime executive assistant testified, said she was testifying under subpoena, not voluntarily and that the trump org. is paying for her two attorneys. After she testified trump tried to shake her hand

Interesting bits, trump kept contacts for both Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels in the trump org computer system.
She once saw Stormy Daniels in the trump tower reception area.

Nothing much more other than she enjoyed working for trump and he was a good boss.

Salons Op Ed makes the point that for anyone else but trump supported by his corrupt GOP who want power at any cost, revelations this week in court would mean the presidential campaign would be over.

Peckers testimony made it clear that people were being paid off to protect trump, those who were trying to come forward with negative information about trump and then trump and his company tried to hide the paper trail.

That trump used his relationship with Pecker, that they call an extortionist gossip monger, to run false negative stories about his opponents, some who like Cruz still support him.

That trump has been getting away with "corrupt, unethical behavior and skirting legal accountability" his entire life and he probably thinks he'll emerge unscathed from his current criminal trial.

The Dispatch are reporting trumps takeover of the RNC has stalled plans the GOP had to open 40 field offices in key states for the 2024 presidential election.

Instead under the RNC, they are concentrating on the 6 or 7 swing states that trump needs, and of course using the money to pay trumps costs, despite Lara trumps claim last week about fighting in 81 states
https://www.rawstory.com/lara-trump-81-states/

So trumps takeover of the RNC is complete, it's all about trump and any other GOP member standing is on his own
