I think it’s a ‘problem’ 99.9% of people would be happy to take on.
For most it’s a £10 ticket for which one way or another you’ll end up a millionaire.
The cash prize alone would cover the costs for a few years, renting it out or Airbnb-ing it would too, with cash to spare. The house will sell as fast as you want it to as long as it is priced correctly, and you’ll still end up a millionaire if you price it to sell immediately.
All for a tenner. If any of you win and don’t want the burden then let me know!
All very true, however when you are immediately hit with £1k+ of bills for council tax & management fees etc and you don't have £1k to pay them, then it suddenly becomes a problem. Even if you managed to sell it fairly quickly it could still take 3 months and in the meantime you'd be receiving the same bills for month 2, and then month 3 before it sold. Yes, stick the bills on your credit card, however there will be plenty of people who simply don't or can't have credit cards but who yet are drawn to the prize like a council dweller to a vape, without thinking of the consequences. For most it’s a £10 ticket for which one way or another you’ll end up a millionaire.

"Chantelle, we've won a house"
"No way Kieran"
"I swear down on'babys life, lets crack open that bottle of Lambrini we've been saving for a special day, and tell your Trevor we will be buying his Vauxhall Zafira after all"

Just in case anyone is interested in the London Chelsea house I just bought 15 entries for £10 & a pop-up offered another 30 entries for £5, so 45 entries for £15 total. I wonder if sales are slowing?
They do it for all of them now I think, you'll find you'll probably get an offer for 2 for 1 tickets emailed to you in the future as well. That's why if you want to buy quite a few it's worth putting a small purchase in first and they'll offer you that sometime afterwards.Mr Pointy said:

Broadly that’s the same as the subscription options. At the moment, if you spend £10 / month you get 30 entries every month.FourWheelDrift said:

Sold, that didn't take long. But then it has been the best house so far IMHO.skwdenyer said:

This is a really odd thread. Mostly complaints about what you win not being perfect.
Very odd.
They're just assets, so surely you just pay for some expert tax advice and make the most sensible choice for your situation.
The issue is that these house often seem to have quirks that have made them difficult to sell conventionally, therefore a new owner may struggle to liquidate that asset if/when they need or want to.Very odd.

Also, big properties come with big maintenance, repair, heating and management costs -particularly where there are management companies, shared drives etc etc.
Unless you have significant assets or large income, these are going to be challenging (take it from somebody who has recently encumbered themselves with a rambling Edwardian house . The £100k cash they give you might not go as far as the new owners might think…

It’s bizarre, you get £100k cash which would cover bills for probably a couple of years or more, and that’s before you get in to the income you could make from the house, or the house you already own, your current job etc. Unless you have the IQ of a turnip (and no access to anyone with a higher one) then it would be nothing but an incredible life changing situation to find yourself in.Very odd.

But anyway, does anyone know how close the new house is to Glastonbury? (well Pilton where the actual festival is) you could make a killing on just that week alone. I found a big Manor House once that was about 30 minutes away and it was something like £50k to rent over that weekend.
Any 'competition' boils down to the likelihood of winning and the payoff.
Car competitions, house competitions etc. pull on emotional strings. No one (apart from the organiser) even knows how many tickets are sold for these house competitions... I.e. the likelihood of winning.
It's just a bit of fun for most, a little punt and a daydream.
People would rather spend their £10 on the chance to win a house that won't be underwater in 10 years than one that will. I'm sure there's irrationality as well, but if there wasn't there'd be no ticket sales .

Assuming the entry codes are consecutive and run on 1:1 alooction, then the number of entries is huge e.g., the difference between my Sept and October codes is 74,678,272,000Car competitions, house competitions etc. pull on emotional strings. I'm not sure that is how it works though.

Codes don’t run 1:1 - 1 code can be entered in the same drawer many times.I'm not sure that is how it works though.

No punter will ever really know of course... or perhaps even care... it's bit of fun!

The new house in Bath comes with a 3 car garage near the house as well as another 3 car garage, a 6 car garage and a workshop, (slightly bigger than the 6 car garage) next to the tennis court away from the house.
Will be interesting how much land it comes with, was being sold with almost 15 acres previously.

Not far from High Littleton. It's definitely not Bath !It's a nice area but there is very little around in terms of amenities.
I wouldn't mind winning it though as it's not far from where I currently live (Chew Valley).
