Nice, what was the lead time?

I'm after a custom sump, and ND is on the list.
What size are you going to go for? I may well get a marine set up but that will be another learning curve.
Thanks. It's a slightly odd size as I'm aiming for a direct replacement for the stock D-D sump, but completely different layout/setup.
My 600 litre was ND custom build, no problems at all.....

Yeah, I've heard good things, and they're one of the few that have been around for a long time...

Only issue is what I'd really like, can only really be done in acrylic. Except there doesn't seem to be a single well regarded acrylic sump/tank manufacturer in the UK!

I stumbled across some Anubias nana at the weekend so 2 pots for the foreground, also experimenting with growing a random supermarket houseplant emmersed, 2 weeks in so far, so good..

Removed the HOB and upgraded the internal to the size up and added a spray bar, much cleaner and helps with my need to see as little hardware as possible.

I really need something bigger however she'll only agree if she can have another puppy...

Let's see how that progresses

Overall fairly happy with what can be done with a 23cm (12 litre) cube if you push things to the max.

Someone near me is giving away a small nano aquarium…
The Mrs will kill me if I start another tank… however…

I was wondering about a DIY no filter, no heater, self sustaining aquarium… perhaps with shrimp or if it’s big enough / I can make it work, a Betta? To be clear, I’d only get a Betta if I could give it a comfortable, happy life.

Has anyone got one, or got any ideas on these types of tank?

Betta wants warmer than average temp ideally. Really wouldn't be comfortable with a room temp one I don't think.

I kind of thought that would be the case, but a no maintenance tank of some kind still interests me. The vids on YouTube look good, but I’d be interested to know what it’s like after 6 months / 1 year, how it was actually a et up etc… I guess that means more YouTube videos for me!

I did wonder whether there was a thread for this. I am new to the marine game, got an Aqua Marin 900 which is now about 3 months old, was going well until I had a massive bacterial bloom this week, water was like milk. But it's now just getting back to clear with a UV that the LFS has leant me. I'll take a tank shot now.

How big is it?

I have a coral purchasing addiction, I go to my local LFS just for R/O once a week and can't help myself.

hehe

I make my own RO, but I know the feeling...

Reefing forum competition frag arrived last week, currently looks like this:

Settled in well, will hopefully turn into something like this:

Otherwise (with one exception I'll get to) tank is running really quite well. Needed to change up flow, and a couple of SPS didn't like the change. Cyano had kicked in, so it was a necessary evil.

Cyano beaten with a mix of flow, coral snow dosing to hoover up dissolved organics, and hydrogen peroxide via oxydator.

Looking back through pics gives some ideas to coral growth - I just don't recognise it as it happens in real time!

Oh, little cameo from the new longnose hawkfish. Tiny, but a proper character.

Tank is properly maturing and settling in, nearly two years down the road. Monthly ICPs show stable phosphate (no changes to Phos media) and reducing nitrate. Both in what I'd consider to be perfectly in the middle of desirable ranges (0.07 Phos, 7 nitrate). I'm doing custom trace dosing mixes that last a month, and colouration has really improved. Really loving the tank contents right now...

Now onto the really stty bit. Teenage kids were pissing about last night, and somehow a heavy glass beaker got 'slapped' into the front pane of the tank.

It's left these circular chips in the front pane, in just about the most visible spot.

They look like little bubbles. Feels pretty smooth outside, inside is completely smooth. No signs of cracks to radiate out.

Kids are in purgatory, and just as the tank has really started to come into its own I'm now absolutely gutted.

Ah ffs I would have gone mental at that.

I wonder if a resin repair would work similar to how they do windscreen chips? I've seen it done on an internal glass partition in an office block.

I choked it down. Their response made it clear there wasn't anything I could do to make them feel worse...

I'm hoping so - but I'm also potentially hoping not so I've an excuse to go for a CADE peninsula... I'd love the three sided viewing, other half actively wants the tank in the living room (currently in my office) and the extra width is nice...

Question for you Plant buffs.

I have a monster fire eel in my stingray tank, it is over 3 ft long but mainly a fatty, he has outgrown his tube that was two big bamboo pipes sectioned and joined to make a big pipe.

I want to experiment with a 23cm diameter tube hung from the cover glass supports in the tank so it doesn’t roll on the bottom, I wondered if I could attach any moss or something that would grow on the tube? And anything that might grow up the suspension ropes?

The tank has moderate led lighting and due to the big fish in there I produce a lot of nitrate. It’s on a constant drip so the sump overflows to waste. It’s medium hard fresh water.

I was hoping to hide the fact that it’s a plastic tube over time.

Anything on the floor of the tank would be rasped by the stingrays
