I'd be tempted to agree but some people really go for the low mileage. Now I've had a look around, this very one is up on AT reduced to £5800. So if it ends any lower, I'd be surprised if the reserve is below £5k.

2002 facelift BMW 330i Sport Saloon with sub 100k for 2 bags; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2002-BMW-330I-SPORT-AUTO...These look like great value now. I had a pre-facelift 2001 model last year with nearly 150k on it and managed to sell it for £3k, they seem to have lost a lot since then.

For a start it isn't £2000.
Starting bid £2000 (reserve not met), buy-it-now £2400.
Which seems reasonable.

Its so hard to judge from an advert. It could be a great deal at £2.4k. Or it could be due an Inspection 2, 2 rear tyres and new front control arms and then suddenly it's a £3.2k car and rather less value. You just can't tell until you see it or ask the seller.

Inspection 2 on a £2k car = oil and filter change and quick once over. (Actually, an Inspection 2 on a £20k at a BMW dealer isn't a great deal more expect what they'll charge you for it!).

I've just bought one (still waiting for it to arrive) for my E39 and am hoping it will be good for other models should I change vehicle. Will they work across manufacturers as well? If you've bought a generic scan tool then its probably a waste of money - the E39 has more than just the ECU for storing fault codes in and the generic stuff only reads the ECU. A decent cable which can access everything with the right software is not expensive. I've bought a code reader (and BMW underbonnet cable) to work with PA soft but not sure if it will work outside BMW? The 2002 330i Sport looks great value. Without doubt the pick of the E46 range IMHO.

Agreed, only way to find out is to go and look at it which I might do tomorrow morning.

It's a cheap E46. Service it yourself. £150 in parts, job jobbed.

Going to do some suspension work soon as I think it needs wishbones, an indie quoted £500 whilst my spanner man will do it for £300. Again, its due an oil service in about 4500 miles which if I haven't sold it yet, I'll think about taking it to BMW or at least to an indie as I can't do it myself and can't see it being much less at the local garage.

Does it need wishbones or just the bushes? If the latter this is a job you can easily do at home - as is an oil change. With the discounts ECP are currently doing it makes it so very cheap to do these bits yourself. I used to work on my own cars as a teenager then stopped for 10 years and just used garages / spanner men but I have recently discovered a renewed enthusiasm for getting my hands dirty and fixing minor bits myself. On my E46 Alpina I did wishbone bushes, drop links, ARB bushes, oil change and filter in a few hours a month or so ago.

The chap I bought it from told me it needed wishbone rubbers, and the mechanic I use said I may as well get new wishbones as that way I'm only paying a bit more and getting new parts as opposed to more labour. TBH don't actually know what it is. As for doing things myself, I'm entirely inept. Haven't tried and would love to know what to do but simply don't have a clue. Embarrassing really and I wish I'd tried to spend a week in a garage as a kid to learn stuff, I only added oil to a car recently for fear of doing something wrong!!

I'm no expert either but there are so many 'how to' guides on forums and youtube you really can teach yourself. If it interests you have a go, you cant damage anything that cant be fixed and your confidence will grow the more you do.

Agreed but there are clearly those like Fox who enjoy being fastidious and doing everything by the book for servicing and maintenance which is great because thats the sort of person we like to buy cars from! OT On BCA when it says mileage not warranted, what does that mean exactly - not enough history to check or knowingly clocked?
