Unfortuantly I think you've made a major cockup. Its not a particulary special car, and I suspect that the majority of these that you see on the road are uually company cars. Therefore private buyers are going to be rare. Yep, I have made a major cock up. I am an idiot. Well from what you've said its just a "wrong car choice" rather than you're personal circumstances chaging greatly and no loger able to finance it? Is that a fair assesment? No scope for a trade in against something that suites you better?

Part ex it for something you want, but further along its depreciation curve.
Keep that for 3 years to average out loss?

How can you not justify keeping it but running it into the ground over the next 15 years is an option, I am confused? Surely if you can afford to keep it then run it for a few years then sell it no?

cra1gy1989 said: If you don't kind us asking, why the change of heart? It's quite a major change of thoughts? It simply comes down to the fact me and the misses don't want to drive one car. There is some back story to this, we have been driving an almost identical car for the last few months, put 7000 miles on the clock with a couple of road trips. This car is the car Audi built us to replace the one we bought which was mis-sold. We realised during this time that we don't actually want to share a car. So, I'm happy to lose some money, put it under "holiday car rental" or some s t, but I'm wondering how far this hole is gonna go.

dealers dont pay list so you normally loose there markup plus the VAT
if the cars rare and desirable it should loose a lot less thou like the evoque when it was new and i suspect the GT86 will hold on to decent money as stock is in short supply
we normally buy our cars and keep them till the repair cost is 2/3rds of its value and then PX it against a new one

Opps! The vat content on £56,000 is divide by 12, multiply by 2. That makes £933.33. Even worse now!

Why in the name of f k didn't you cancel the order? Or have you had a huge change in circumstances at the very last minute? Hope you get out of it reasonably intact! ETA: Ok, I've seen your explanation. The suggestion to swap it for two cars from the same dealer might be the best one.

So you will have lost £11,500 on a car you have used over 7000 miles? (sort of).
Take the hit and move on.

Finance outstanding? If not, sell it on via either trade in or auction.
Swallow hard.

Johnboy Mac said: I'm presuming it's brand spanking new? If so, back to the dealership and do a deal maybe they can de-register it too? Otherwise, best bet is to drive it for a year and then sell. Having said that, why are you willing to take a major hit on such a car, so would give their right arm for it? De register? Never heard of it? I don't want to take a major hit on the car. I want to sell it at a reasonable price but by the looks of it that's not gonna happen.

Swallow hard. No finance. Not sure if that makes it better or worse, I guess its money either way.

Makes me feel lucky to have bought a new 987 for £36k, put 3000 miles on it during a summer of fun and then sell it 3 months later for £32.5k. This was back in 2005 though.
I then bought a brand new Disco 3 for similar money that lost me £20k when it was sold 3 years later.
I did buy a Yamaha motorbike new for £5200 only to part ex it for something else 2 months later for £3500, ouch!!!
