I think the 993 turbo is lovely looking car, however I'm failing to see the reasons for that cars price, the interior is awful ruched blue leather on comfort seats matched to a blue dash/doors/steering wheel and carpets, the fact Porsche made someone pay more for it via special wishes and it hung around for a while making it the last one pushed out (not made) doesn't really add anything other than a slight bit of interest to an air cooled beard at the local PCGB meet.
You could buy a collection of classic air cooled Porsches for that money (2.7 RS/964 RS/993 RS and a Turbo) or a CGT if you really had to just buy one car, the options other than that car are wide and well, very compelling in comparison.

There were no factory wide bodied production cars, but Porsche Centre Beverly Hills lobbied the factory and were given approval to convert 5 US spec C4 Cabriolet's to S spec locally in the US. Meanwhile a European VIP managed to get a single factory built C2S cabriolet through Porsche Exclusive - believed to be the only factory built car in the world. Big job - rebodying an existing C2 cabriolet and adding the S running gear - rather than chopping the roof off of a C2S coupe. I believe there were no factory widebody Cabs with the exception of 14 turbos made in 1994 before the standard 993 Turbo was launched.

Sold by Sotherby's in 2018 for €270k - absolute steal compared to the Turbo in the article.

The price is frankly laughable, it is NOT worth 10x the price of a nice 993TT.
as for the plaque -

wow 1.5 million for a old turbo great old car, but look at the possible alternative investments for the same money Mclaren P1
probably going to be the next Mclaren F1, i know which one id have parked in my garage !! also the Porsche 918 Spyder
no comparison on both counts, both cars are 2 out 3 of the holy trinity of recent hyper cars set to be future collectors greats

The car’s shell, pedal box and seat position were optimised for LHD. The RHD pedal box in the 964 and 993 aren’t particularly well aligned/ within the floorpan relative to the seating position in the LHD cars, and thus can be uncomfortable to drive (not for all) but a good percentage find the RHD driving position to be pain inducing. problem with a car like this the mileage may indeed be low but its been transported to and from many shows and sat on stand and probably had literally thousands of asses parked on that seat, getting in and out so the seat itself will ne well worn even if the car is low mileage.
