Do they or any manufacture do it for ICE convertibles. It would be interesting to see.

Personally i found the wind buffeting and noise unpleasant at speed but under 50 it was generally OK and great when driving sedately.
Nothing better than taking some classics to Le Mans, preferably barely silenced V8’s and alike…making progress through the countryside as the sun goes down. This Maserati just makes all that black and white…

Luckily for many if not most, ICE-sound does not make the difference in "living". I have many more important things in life that make me feel alive. Putting things in perspective is an important life skill.

We're here to help you master that skill. It's a comment on a car forum about driving a V8 to one of the world's most famous races, not teaching baby dolphins to become human rights lawyers.

Possibly the greatest quote on PH this year.

Actually yes. I've previously worked with a few members and civil servants on projects. My experience and knowledge of them leads me to believe their dedication and intellect far out weighs many of the people inhabiting these pages. That is however not to say they are exemplary individuals that always behave impeccably an to high standards. So those may feel quite at home here.

While perspective is important, for many people, cars are important and something they are very passionate about. You may deem other things more important, but perhaps they don't. There is nothing wrong with that - we're all different.

You might gain some perspective by remembering that.

And therein lies the problem. In respect of driving if you don’t like noise, I’d wager you’re not really the kind of person that is going to get turned on by driving. It really doesn’t register that anyone wouldn’t enjoy a bit of ceremony whilst hooning about? Straight cut gears, induction bark, faint smell of fuel, hot oil, popping on the overrun, heel and toe…there’s so much to the overall package. As I jump in my pre conditioned i3 this morning, it’ll efficiently get me to the office delivering a completely forgettable space in time. Nobody will look, nobody will care enough to raise a smile it’ll just blend in the greyness of life. How sad to not be able to see the other side.

Oh, and as for ‘most’ I think you mean those that don’t enjoy driving anyway, I would have thought ‘most’ on PH would?

Just for you smile

That looks fantastic.

I love the fact that this has a proper integrated dashboard, rather than the slap-on screens that most of the electric cars have these days.

Was the previous ICE GranCabrio the last word in dynamism? Was it bought by people who want to throw it into the corner and shimmy out the other side?

I sometimes wonder on Pistonheads if everyone wakes up in the morning with a mental image of the Boxster or the Elise in their mind, and anything which falls short of it is criticised for "not being good dynamically"..

..when in the real world people buy cars for all manner of reasons other than dynamics.

I think anyone who is buying this, wants to look (very) good while also feeling very good about their eco-choice.

It's a very justifiable poseurs car. It is the kind of thing you buy because you know it is a beautiful object, and you are a bit seduced by whatever remains of the romance of the badge. You want something which doesn't exist in any other manufacturer's portfolio.

I think the price is steep, I fear the depreciation, and of course the colour is silly, but how many other launch cars are in something lurid that we'd never buy?

Good on Maserati for being the first to make something which isn't a bloated, ugly, space-age looking SUV, but instead something I can look at and say "I'd have that, no matter what the powertrain".
Totally agree - I owned a 1999 Mercedes CLK Convertible. It wasn't that great in the corners, but with the roof down on a summer's day, trundling through London or going for a Norfolk drive, the feeling was total bliss.

Every day a journey

Amazingly some prefer driving to boats. Who'd have thought it on a motoring forum?

You don’t own a track car, you hated it remember rofl

You make it quite clear driving isn’t an interest whatsoever.

Nope sold it to a German guy.

Dyno 350wbhp Honda K20A rebuilt to 2300cc with charge cooler and bespoke exhaust. 837kg with fluids and fuel.

It's around the cans these days or trips to France for fizz and Oysters. Still drive some nice toy cars in Tallinn when I'm there.
