Batteries are heavy.
If it was lighter, you'd complain about the range instead.
Making assumptions about what I'd "complain" about is pretty foolish.

Thanks. I can see them selling. Perhaps better if for marketing they go down the GT route rather than the sportscar one.

With many manufacturers stopping/suspending electric car manufacturing, why is it electric? I would love to buy one but not electric. Wouldn’t it be great to make it eFuel, it would push the petrol suppliers to make it available at local petrol stations, perhaps encouraging petrol car users to start using it!
Buy absolutely any other sports car on the market then?

That actually looks really good. I wonder if any British design or engineering went into it.
I saw one at the Everything Electric show, last month.

I really liked the look of it. I'll certainly test drive an example when a demonstrator pitches up at my local MG dealer.

Never mind that. Just look at the doors and the badge!

Not sure the badge means anything much to anyone any more.

I think it has a lot of F type about it on the side profile.
I thought that, and the front.

Overall, like it, but scissor doors always look like you have a 2003 Hyundai Coupe, are a bit mental and fitted them yourself along with some strange graphics, not right on anything other than an actual supercar.

The signature of the rear lights as an arrow, er, not sure, and the back is a bit droopy, need to see one in person.

Looks good in the grey with a red roof, should go very well even given its weight which is more luxo barge than sportscar, its still early days for electric sportscars, sixty grand gets you a lot of Exige and various other stuff. Suspect there may be some discounts down the line on these.

Hi there,

I have seen the Cyberster at a few events now and I am very impressed with it.

As an Alpine A110 owner I would seriously consider the MG when it comes time to change.

The Yellow car at Salon Prive last week was superb and I enjoyed having a good nosey around it as production cars get closer

It's not really a Boxster competitor; it's far closer in size and ethos to, say, a Mercedes SL or Jaguar F-type:

F-type: 1818kg
Mercedes SL: 1,910kg

So it's still heavier, but not by a huge margin.

That's MGW, not kerb weight. Which makes the 1985kg quoted above look rather unlikely because that would only leave 125kg for passengers and luggage. biggrin

"It’s been almost exactly three years since MG revealed its (British-designed) concept for a two-seat electric roadster. Now, following its official debut at Goodwood last year and after an 18-month performance and handling development programme overseen by the engineering team at Longbridge..."

I'm pleasantly surprised that Longbridge still has a design and engineering capability. I suppose all of the powertrain gubbins is developed in China, but having some skilled UK input is better than nothing.

I was rather hoping those "Arrow" tail lights weren't real. They do look a bit naff I must say. Spoils an otherwise quite nice bit of work.

It's actually a bit longer than a 992! They should push it as a GT. I can't see people hopping out of an MX5 into a cyberster.

Other than the weight, I don't actually mind that to be honest. Plus I like the theatre with the doors as well.

Why does everyone care about cars' weight so much yet there are so many fat people about?

Anyhow, I'd really hoped they'd change its name- it sounds awful.

Looks good though, apart from the strange split spoiler.

ouch, I guess my hope that it would be around the 1600 mark was a bit optimistic ...
No chance, unfortunately.

It probably tips 2t for the GT by the time you've climbed aboard.

Love the lunacy of the doors, no doubt a pain to live with.

Wonder if they'll regret doing that in the same way Tesla/Musk regretted the Falcon doors on the Model X.
