Navara vs L200 - Argh, which one!!?!
Discussion
I used to work for Nissan and used various Navara's as demo's from launch, and I have to say they are a fantastic vehicle to drive. They are resnoably comfortable on long distances and there is easily enough space in the back for 6 foot plus adults. I have also recently driven the Mitsubishi L200 and found it very under powered, plus I am always a bit wary when the dealership offer to chip them for you (lack of faith in own product?).
What ever onw you choose it will be a great vehicle, but if you want to stand out and have an eye catching sign written vehicle I would go for a bright blue Navara Aventura (ask for at least 9% off!!)

Would be very interested in your opinion-I have read that some of the early Navara had some reliability issues with clutches and bluetooth was this correct and if so have they now been sorted?
Also can you give an idea of how much depreciation should be expected over 3 years on average mileage.
You're right about the 9%!
Thanks
There were a few issues with a clutch release bearing that would have been evident in probably the first 1500 miles of driving so should be well and truly sorted under warranty. There was also a substanital amount of re-calls on th early models covering the bolts that hold the body to the chassis!! and the side air-bags (aventura and outlaw only). I never experienced any problems with the bluetooth, and we never had a returned vehicle with this problem, so can't help here i'm afraid.
The residual value on a commercial vehicle always varys massively due to it's level of usage i.e the value of a vehicle used by a builder puttting 1 toone of sand in the back every day would be worth considerably less than someone using it as a company car tax dodge. I would expect at least 50% return after 3 years on a well maintained vehicle. This could actually be more as suply and for the new model is still very sparse and the customer demand when I left Nissan weas still very high which should be keeping residuals high.
Hope this helps

I'm on my third Navara, and the latest D40 is by far the best of the bunch. I've had mine for 16 months now, so it was one of the first D40's out. I had a problem with the rear axle in the first month or so, which was subject to a recall, but other than that it's been faultless.
As already said, the service intervals are 18,000 miles (although I change the oil & filter every 6000 miles anyway). I find it impossible to get less that 30 mpg (and I drive it fairly hard). It's comfortable for 500+ miles a day, and will easily keep up with the flow of traffic (had an indicated 115mph (on a private road)).
Go for the Hi-Tech pack, and you'll get Bluetooth, cruise, dual climate, easy-to-use DVD Sat Nav and a 6-CD MP3 player with steering wheel controls. Not bad for a workhorse.
And the Mitsu looks like someone nudged the designer when he was drawing the rear bed; what's that forward curve all about?

Sorry to bring this one back from the dead a bit - but i love my Navara Outlaw so much I just had to post!!
Had it since last sept - its the larger Kingcab (with suicide back doors) - because its rare anyone goes in the back.
My first diesel & my first pick-up but I'm loving it! Doing 37 - 38MPG, 8,000 miles in - thinking about changing the oil, but service not due till 18,000.
Very good off-road & great on road.
I think the only other that might come close is the new Hi-Lux but I just love the Navara looks.

Have the Navara aventura with all the toys, done 42k miles in a year, used it for lemans, tried the all the others and found the Nissan to be the most comfortable, fastest, most torque, best turning circle, good room in the back, good fold up seats, tows like a demon, computer says 26.9 mpg, all the toys work well, auto very smooth, and the Mitzy is one ugly bitch. You pays your money and takes your choice, but try them all 'cos they do vary.
Good choice that man!!

Just this second registered, waiting for admin approval as we speak/type etc.
Yay, it was delivered on Friday! I've fallen in love with it already. Got it a wee bit muddy on Saturday (well, you've got to haven't you?) Then promptly had it valetted on Sunday!
The spec level is tremendous given that it's a 'commercial' vehicle. Equally, with it being the Animal version, it's had a little bit of tweaking to the engine to give it a power boost. It's not the quickest thing by a long shot but it's not overly sluggish either.
I didn't realise but RalliArt are the people who have developed the software for the auto box too!
