I had a car laid up for 6 months with a near full tank. Used a shot of fuel stabiliser to stop it going off. Also gave the car a run about every couple of weeks to prevent anything ceasing up. The only problem was that the battery went flat a few times, but after an over night charge the car started first time every time. I think fuel stabiliser is essential after more than a couple of months.

I had some diesel sat in my fuel tank for a year while the car was off the road

Started up first time and had no trouble using the rest of the 3/4 of a tank of it smile

Just to add to the fun, summer petrol is different from winter petrol nerd
In what way? I know this is true(or used to be when we had cold winters) for diesel??
Basically much the same thing as the diesel. Probably not so important these days when everything is injection, but for carburetters it mattered and as far as I know it still happens and I suspect it happens more than ever thanks to aggressive branding. Basically petrol is a blend of chemicals and companies constantly mess with that blend.

Certainly petrol is not all the same. My Alfas go like hell on V-power, and like a dog on BP super unleaded. Other engines will find the opposite true.

The focus hire car seamed to run fine on the 30ish liters of st I put in it as it had to go back with a full tank.
A good mix of old 2t pre mix, 6month old Spanish fuel, and various ages of stuff removed from laid up bikes (up to 4 years for one I think.)
So in conclusion hire cars don’t mind how old the fuel is! But I am glad I only had to do 10miles in it to return! biggrin

PS I wouldnt rent a blue focus in the SE if I were you.wink

I can confirm that leaving it for 10 years is not good. Needed a new tank on the Vit'...nothing would dissolve the solids that formed.

13 months, half a tank in the FireBlade (about a fivers worth) - not a problem.

short term the usa is forcing opec to over produce to fk russias price, opec can only over produce for so long. but if russia enter a recession next year maybe prices will stay low.

So i need to but lots of Jerry Cans in the short term? Yey! And if everyone has the same idea, I'll get in early on Jerry Can manufactures...

And if prices rise later on I could make a quick buck...
