Not sure if this has been put up already, it's a DT article about sales in Europe of EVs.
i'm going to have a stab in the dark that you didn't post similar when EV sales were on the up?Not sure if this has been put up already, it's a DT article about sales in Europe of EVs.
it's like the uptake of any new concept/ technology, never a smooth curve. this one is way more complicated than normal too.

An old used Leaf can be surprisingly useful in the right circumstances. My main gripe with them is they are so miserable to drive.
The problem with an old Leaf (i.e. say with a range of 50 miles ish) is that when you need more than that it's a pain. Chademo rapid chargers are not in huge numbers around here. I looked around a Motorway service station I was at yesterday. There are 11 chargers, 9 CCS, 1 type-2 and just 1 Chademo. If the Chademo is in use or (worse) broken then you're stuck with the Type-2, which on most Leafs is 15 amp (3.3kw) which charges at 15 mph.
So you drive it for 45 minutes, then charge it for 3 hours, and repeat.
Even with a 6.6 kw charger, it takes 90 minutes to add 50 miles, then another 45 minute drive.

I don’t think most prefer ICE because we’re some stuck in the past unwoke Dinosaurs. Most people prefer ICE because currently it’s a far better technology than EVs in terms of day to day useability and who would ever want to take a backward step? Forcing people into inferior products is never going to end well. Let the market decide, if EVs are superior people will buy them. But that’s not currently the reality despite the continual protestations of the brainwashed cultist EV loons.
If you can charge at home and don’t do more than 200 miles a day, like most don’t, in what way is ICE better technology?trumpton7291 said:
Lol, no doubt the EV cultists will again find some way to deny reality. More bullst on this thread than the car salesman one…
I've never posted anything other than facts backed up by genuine observed real world experience, and i will continue to do so.When i post in other threads about motorbikes, my racing experience, trackdays i do the same.

nobody's being forced to do anything at the moment sausage. lots of genuine reasons not to get an EV at the moment, but those reasons will be knocked over one by one pretty quickly. only thing left will be 'just don't want one'.EV as a propulsion system for everyday use is much better than any ICE, it’s simpler, cheaper to maintain, quieter, low emissions.
Currently the energy storage is the limiting factor, not the motor technology. It’s getting better all the time.
It does not suit everyone yet due to the way it is charged and the costs of the batteries that push up the price. Like computers once were huge and extremely expensive they came down in price and improved performance. EVs will be the same.
Technologically they beat any ICE as a means of transportation. Once the energy storage gets to the sweet spot it will be a no brainer.
It doesn’t fit every use as yet but it is a better technology than burning hydrocarbons.

Well this ‘cultist EV loon’ has a flat 6, a V6, a 2.5l 305bhp track car, and an EV.I’ve got comfortably in excess of £250k invested in ICE vehicles.
From my real world experience I know that for 95% of situations the EV is hands down the best car, and it’s also a very engaging rewarding drivers car.
But obviously I’m brainwashed?

I’m sure trumpton7291 will be along shortly to let everyone know of his equally extensive EV experience.

It's a very fair question in my opinion.
The sooner we get some realistic pricing and particularly next year aren't then paying luxury car tax based on a P11D figure dreamed up by some marketing graduate the better and that's without fixing the fiscal drag by chancellors. EVs need to get to a position where they can wash their face against the opposition, or else there will be resistance we're seeing against heat pumps, boiler tax being shelved / delayed and so on.
We need to be fast tracking some mechanism to get EV owners paying their equivalent fair share of fuel duty. Road pricing is some way off, so this leaves ramping up EV VED as the only realistic option. The sooner we get some realistic pricing and particularly next year aren't then paying luxury car tax based on a P11D figure dreamed up by some marketing graduate the better and that's without fixing the fiscal drag by chancellors. Not sure what you mean by "cultist" but no need to get so emotional. You don't have to get an EV so don't worry. You don't even have to read about them unless you enjoy self-harming.I don't have one either but I am open minded and I enjoy hearing from car enthusiasts who have nice ICE cars but also enjoy an EV. The two are probably not mutually exclusive.
I wouldn't dream of writing flippant negative comments in a section about something I don't like, I have no experience of or don't want to buy. That would be really weird.

Maybe a different phrase would be more fitting. I'll let you decide.

Hard to believe I know, but that’s real world experience for you.
One day you’ll try one and find out I expect.

But, as before, no engine, no interest.
Simply not possible to be engaging or rewarding. iMO.

That’s fine, we all have opinions. I on the other hand find a lot of performance ICE vehicles faintly embarrassing now compared to EVs, which I far prefer. But, as before, no engine, no interest.
Simply not possible to be engaging or rewarding. iMO.
It takes all sorts I suppose!
