Dumping the driver who scored twice as many points as the driver staying. Or has he already signed with a better team, but as yet to be announced?

You would hope he signed for a better team.

The Ilott / JHR split sounds really ugly but inevitable.

First 50mins Marshall explains how it got to where it did in detail.

Sure seems like JHR hung on to Ilott despite knowing full well that they would split. It's widely suggested McLaren who have just entered into a 'partnership' with JHR were interested in Ilott. Did JHR hang on to him as bait to lure McLaren in? Or did they just hang on to him long enough that all the good alternative Indycar rides are gone. All very stinky.

Replaced by Grosjean,

this seems a bit of a desperate move considering the Ilot debacle

Grosjean doesn't like understeer a trait shared by the Andretti cars he's leaving and Juncos last year. He must be hoping the McLaren partnership leads to a more McLaren like oversteering car.

I'm pleased that Grosjean has found a seat and hope he does well

Ilott is far too good to spend a year on the sidelines though - here's hoping he picks up a good seat for 2024 in whatever series.

Wonder if he find a seat in hypercar in wec. I'm not sure if all the seats are filled or not yet.

Back to our 500 trip this year, trigger pulled on the package deal for first time newbee, but need to find something to do on the Friday. Doing Legends day on the saturday. Hotel is centre of Indy next to the Monument Circle and we don't have a car so will need to be something in town, suggestions?

Downtown is a perfectly pleasant place to wonder around for a lazy day but there isn't really any 'must do' attractions. The Canal District is nice and has the Indiana State Museum and Eiteljorg Museum which are fine. If you are interested in the NFL then Lucas Oil Stadium run tours.

If I were you I'd get myself out to the track via a taxi/uber for Carb Day on the Friday and then spend the Saturday in the Downtown area for the 500 Festival Parade.

Not sure if we will get this over here but there's a documentary about the late Dan Wheldon and his family legacy coming soon, looks good.

There's a countdown timer on the website - https://www.indycar.com/

Three and half hours to go, so 4pm I'd say. It's 12:00 PM - 2:30 PM ET

Oops missed the start.

Can't believe they're still using the DW12 chassis, new car isn't due until 2027.

The NXT was better which doesn't say a lot tbh.

That was incredibly dull. Made so by being a fuel save event. So nobody was using push to pass.
