I know it is along way away, but who is doing the 24 hour race this year?

We should have the Civic Type-R (two spaces remaining) and my M3 (one space remaining) once it is rebuilt from Oulton running.

How about everyone else on here?

Me and the missus will be going. It will be good to see the M3 out again. Went to Snetterton at the weekend and did notice that it was absent. Good luck with the rest of the season.

Is there a good/official website for Britcar? It sounds pukka, but after a quick Google I'm none the wiser...??

with luck, I'm going to field both the Elise (that ran last year) and the ProSport this year... (seats avaliable in both!)

Yay! Be good to see the little Elise out again.

Oh, and I'll be doing my best to be the hardiest spectator again (up all night in the pi**ing rain last year ). Looking forward to it!

Thank you, panclan, although to be fair, I was in the pitlane most of the time, dodging in and out of the garages trying to keep dry! However, I was spotted in the grandstand opposite Moore Motorsport's pit by Graham at around sunrise...(well, I say sunrise, what I mean is, when it became slightly less gloomy!)

More of the same this September, I expect. Be nice if Silverstone let us at least take our cars in this year to afford a little shelter. Maybe they'll even have a campsite within the circuit, heaven forbid...

I am hoping I can raise the necessaries to do the 24hrs. I have instantly become a Britcar fan after taking part at Snetterton (hope I didn't get in anyones way). I have a fair amount of experience in "club" races but this is my first experience of endurance racing.

Should be doing Brands, Donington, at least. Any tips for the 24hrs -from a drivers point of view?

Scuffers - it will be good to see you back in the fold....

The 24 Hours from a drivers point of view - I think Simon will agree that top priority (besides getting 3 other drivers to pay their way !)is a good set of lights. The corners were poorly marked last year, although I understand improvements are to be made this year - 5/6 hours with poor lights can knock you down the order at a rate of knots - get yourself along to "Rally Pods R us".

The lighting was a nightmare at the LMES race in August not helped by the fact that the Tampoli only had one working headlight when it turned up.

have to say this was not such a big deal for us... we just ran std road car lights.

only corner that was a problem was abbey chicane, no matter how much light you had, it's just impossible to correctly judge the apex, no problem when there was somebody infront (even far infront), but on your own it was a bit hard.

So long as they're brighter than the ones you had on the Prosport at Brands last November! Mind you, didn't seem to be too much of a hinderance...

Will be going again this year.

Does anyone have any info, or influence towards Silverstone so that this year we can take our cars into the circuit rather than parking them outside.
IMHO, I am pretty sure that a lot of people will be put off spectating because of the poor spectator organisation last year. This would be a great shame as this event could be very well supported.

I think I am right in saying that James T has secured BRSCC backing / promotion for the weekend this year - meaning all specator facilities are open....infield parking, toilets, lighting in the grandstands etc.

The problem is in JT persuading the Silverstone management that the 24 hour race is worth promoting. It's nothing to do with the BRSCC.

Promoting motor sport, In the Uk, are you mad, why would anyone possibly want to do that

far better to keep it behind closed doors, or at least it would seem that way. I went past cadwell the other bank holiday, obviously somthing on, but the next event board said, well nothing FFS

the only exeptions i've seen are Castle Coombe, wow the whole circuit lined with spectators... mallory for the plum pudding races packed again even in the cold. Croft and Knockhill are also well attended...

Pembrey last weekend, mmmm at least 30 or 40 spectators !

What would be the cheapest drives that teams have available in the 24hr? I am a club racer and have always loved endurance racing, but never done it! I think the fees may scare me though!
