What would be the cheapest drives that teams have available in the 24hr? I am a club racer and have always loved endurance racing, but never done it! I think the fees may scare me though!

The Silverstone Britcar 24Hr is an officialy promoted/recognised event this year. It is in all of Silverstones events promotional media and the circuit will indeed be more geared for specators this time around. Last year it was all a bit last minute in the Silverstone planning dept grand scheme of things (they did'nt think it was going to happen...until it actually did). But we all proved them wrong and they saw the commercial value in the event in the process. This year it will be more like it should have been last year.

have to say this was not such a big deal for us... we just ran std road car lights.
err - yea!
brings a whole now meaning to the words candle power!
Whist I am here, I will be looking for drivers for the 24H, going on how we did last year, the Elise has to be a serious contender this year.

Does this mean, when you ring to get a ticket to the '24, they won't ask which day you want a ticket for!
If Silverstone had their rears in gear, they'd have other entertainment organised too, like bands, etc.... pile it high, sell it cheap, and get more people through the gate.
It's an entertainment venue - and motorsport is an entertainment.
You know it makes sense!
Anyone got a few grand to spare? I need a sponsor (or ten).

James had Alan Price organised last year but hardly anyone watched, apart from the local lady vicar who then went on stage to bless the race and all its participants

the star had to be the merc - standard road tyres, auto box and 8 track in the dash
not forgetting the team boss quaffing red wine on the pit wall oh and the driver complaining he was cold so they pitted him and threw a blanket overhis knees!!! nomex blanket i assume I heard all they did was refuel it and drive it home..
People Power!!
Yes I got wet last year - I slept on the garage floor, but only after I squidgy'd half the pits for everyone else.
People: I marshalled at 3 Willhire 24 hr races at Snet. In the 'old days' the people supported the individual teams (by manufacturer or by following a local team) and the BRSCC/Willhire invited all and sundry to entertain the people.
I'm talking about Radio Roadshow, helicopter rides, fairground complete with lights and music. Late night bar and camping 'on sight'
Anyone attending last year must have counted at least 100 fans/spectators max!
Bring in the kids! the family ticket! allow pits walk-abouts!
If the Ring and Spa can attract huge crowds what is stopping us?
{a pistonheads numbers count - the most atractive venue to be seen at this year?}

Don't tell us, tell Mr Tucker & Silverstone (the latter need a kick up the arse to market the sport to the great unwashed, and stop preaching to the converted)
I'm sure that "Fab FM" could be encouraged to throw on a show, especially if Wilhire want even more coverage!!
Though, as has been said before, from little acorns, great oaks grow.
We've seen what happens when things try to be too big too quick (see Rockingham..)

I think all you need to do is allow in-field or trackside parking / camping and the rest will sort its self out a-la Le Mans. Would you park all the way outside then trudge round on your lonesome without a "base" to pop back to from time to time. I wouldn`t.
Christ knows there is enough space in and around the circuit. You could then involve the clubs and they could have their own individual parking / camping areas. The Porsche club has a lovely race centre and huge awning which will be at the event anyway for the Open / Club race. A logistical walk in the park to open it up to members after the club race has finished.

I know it is along way away, but who is doing the 24 hour race this year?
We should have the Civic Type-R (two spaces remaining) and my M3 (one space remaining) once it is rebuilt from Oulton running.
How about everyone else on here?

I'm interested in doing the 24 hours - Can you PM me with costs for the Civic and the M3 please?
