Sounds like I really do need to go to Kwik Fit, just need to do the top mounts and droplinks first!
I'm not a Kwik Fit fan but having paid £25.00 to get the front aligned twice, it still felt a bit vague. Did consider Kwik Fit as they have the Hunter gear but was always a bit "Hmmmm..." but when our man here had the 850 done, I figured it was worth a shot. Granted £50.00 isn't cheap cheap but then again it's not dear if it's right. Plus the print out is good as it shows any potential underlying issues. Thankfully mine is all back within spec again and driving well. Just make sure the track rod ends aren't seized before you go or that's extra.

Hi mate, Can't get the PM/EMail system to work so..

I'm planning on going to Kwik Fit this afternoon after I've done my top mounts for them to align everything.

Did they do you front camber? (using the lower shock bolts used to adjust?) Just wondering if I should be marking where they are currently before I take it all apart!

Cheers, Max

I just realised, having read this thread, that I've walked past your car at least 3 times this week! Looks really nice in the flesh, condition is a credit to you.

I use the DS2500's on my 850R, they definitely stop with some authority:

DS2500's are definitely good, just watch out for that first brake application in cold conditions. They're not terrible, but they don't give anywhere near their best without a little bit of temperature in them.

Go for Carbon Lorraine pads, they're night and day better than the DS2500's, especially when cold and normal driving.

May I jsu say that the 850 used in BTCC wasn't the T5, it was a 2.0 20v naturally aspirated engine producing 280 bhp!
Anyways, back to the thread, and may I add that it's a great choice!
I used to drive the fastest of all T5's, always white with some weird flashing lights on top.
I liked them so much that I bought quite a few in the last few years.
Amongst others I has both manual and auto 859 T5's, manual and auto V70 T5's and a late model V70R awd auto.
My favourite was the good old manual 850 T5, possibly as it seemed the most undiluted version.
Brake and suspension upgrades were my first points of call, and only one had a remap, larger turbo, more efficient Intercooler etc (all done prior to my ownership!)
To be fair, the standard car is generally good enough, provided the shocks, springs and bushes are in tip-top condition, as well as the brakes.
I did have one that had a saggy self-levelling strut at the back, but sold it before it became an issue.
My driveway is currently chocca with a new Octavia estate, a P38 Range Rover, (I know, I know!) an Audi A4 1.8T quattro.
And now you've set me off wanting another 850 T5...
I must introduce you to SWMBO if I do so, as this thread, and ergo SWMBO, will be responsible for my man vegetables being surgically removed....!

I'd just like to say that you clearly have fine taste in cars. Here's mine lapping the 'ring last week; it's an 850 T5 manual which I brought nearly 2 years ago now, intending to only keep it for a month or so while I moved house. About 20,000 miles later it's still with me, and other than tyres and servicing, the only expense has been £30 for a new MAF sensor. These old Volvos are simply awesome pieces of kit...
